R.I.P. Gale Chester Whittington

August 16, 2013

GaleChester

This is a very sad day for the Adam Lambert fandom. We just learned that Gale Chester Whittington, who curated the Adam Lambert Fan Club on Facebook, passed away on August 12th. He was 67.  Gale grew up in Denver, Colorado, and moved to San Francisco in his youth, where he joined the early vanguard of the gay rights movement. He chronicled the early history of the movement in his book “Beyond Normal: The Birth of Gay Pride.”  In recent years, he settled in Oklahoma at his late parents’ home. He struggled with health issues and personal difficulties, and his love for Adam Lambert and the Facebook community that grew around his page, were sources of joy for him and to the 40,000+ fans who had “liked” his page. Gale was unfailingly kind to all. He will be greatly missed.

If it wasn’t for him I may never have met Adam Lambert in Melbourne when I did. It was because of his page that I knew about it. He will be missed by all Glamberts. RIP Gale.

Though no longer on this earth, your spirit and memories of all you gave to Glamberts everywhere will always be with us. R.I.P. Gale.
