MontePittman2013Tonight we welcome back master guitarist Monte Pittman. After months on the road touring with Madonna, he headed back into the studio to record his next album The Power of Three with Flemming Rasmussen, who produced Metallica’s Master of Puppets. The album drops on January 21st, 2014 (pre-order here), under the Metal Blade Records label.

Monte has released two new singles off the album, “Before the Mourning Son” and “Dark Horse,” and is garnering accolades from listeners and critics. This critic from Yell! is a new fan:  “Pittman has also played with Prong and he’s about to release his third full-length solo album, The Power of Three. Honestly, I’ve never heard of the guy, since I don’t usually pay attention to pop guitarists — who does, right? But now that I have heard of him and heard him, I’m going to start paying attention to him. This guy is worth your time.”

Here’s a teaser highlighting some of Monte’s mad skills:

I agree. I think that is where his strength lies as a guitarist, and probably what’s closest to his heart, I would guess.

As I am not in any position to know what goes on in L.A. I am not making comment or passing judgement on someone else’s business deal that I know nothing about first hand. Wishing Monte the best with his album, and wishing his old connections the very best as well. Still regarding Monte as a good guitarist, if nothing else. I’m sure he has his own supporters.
