IT’S ALL HAPPENING

Major kudos to the geniuses at Creative Artists Agency for engineering the recent campaign to shine a high-level spotlight on Adam, starting with his prime spot at the Kennedy Center awards, to the Oscars, and now the back-to-back appearances on ABC’s American Idol and the documentary “The Show Must Go On.” What an amazing way to leverage the global success of “Bohemian Rhapsody” to set the stage for Adam’s new music.

Drum Roll..

First, there was that now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t documentary trailer to excite the fandom. The teaser was back on Vimeo in the immediate lead-up to the ABC broadcast:

Then a succession of ads on ABC…

THE SHOW MUST GO ON

Shhh, please don’t share the video… this is our little secret!

From Queen’s website: TWO-HOUR DOCUMENTARY “THE SHOW MUST GO ON:
THE QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT STORY’
Airs Monday, April 29 (8:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET) on ABC

“On the heels of Queen and Adam Lambert’s show-stopping opening performance at the Oscars on Sunday, February 24, Lincoln Square Productions has acquired the U.S. television rights to a documentary from Miracle Productions on the iconic band and their new regular frontman, Adam Lambert. Produced by Jim Beach and acclaimed writer and filmmaker Simon Lupton, “The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story” airs MONDAY, APRIL 29 (8:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET) on the ABC Television Network, prior to Queen and Lambert’s already sold-out July/August 2019 U.S. “Rhapsody” tour.

With rare concert footage and exclusive, revealing portraits of the band members off-stage, “The Show Must Go On” chronicles Queen and Lambert’s incredible journey since they first shared the stage together on “American Idol” in 2009. From his humble beginnings and meteoric rise on reality TV to now standing center stage as lead singer of Queen + Adam Lambert, the documentary features brand new interviews with Lambert, his parents Leila and Eber and Queen founding members Brian May and Roger Taylor, as well as “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell, Golden Globe (and Oscar) winner for Best Actor, “Bohemian Rhapsody”’s Rami Malek and Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins.

Queen remain vanguards of rock in the 21st century. They scored their first #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980 and soared through that decade performing in stadiums, including their landmark 1985 performance at Live Aid which was seen by 3 billion people worldwide. Freddie Mercury died of AIDS in 1991 and a star-studded tribute concert the following year was thought to be the conclusion of Queen live.

“The Show Must Go On” simultaneously follows the ensuing 27 years. Lambert, starting at the age of 10, is beginning to come of age, discovers his love of music and finds a voice of his own while, across the pond, the surviving members of Queen see their songs remain staples with DJ’s, in clubs, in theatres around the globe with their hit musical “We Will Rock You” and in movies. Lambert and Queen intersected in spectacular fashion when Lambert first performs with the band, singing “We Are the Champions” as one of only two finalists on Season 8 of “American Idol.” The public reaction was remarkable and first seeded the idea that perhaps Lambert might become a permanent fixture in the Queen family. In 2012 Queen + Adam Lambert was born. To date Queen + Adam Lambert have performed together in nearly 200 sold-out shows in arenas and stadiums across the world. “The Show Must Go On: The Queen + Adam Lambert Story” is produced by Simon Lupton and Jim Beach for Miracle Productions and Matt Lombardi is executive producer for Lincoln Square Productions.”

Brilliant work on part of Creative Artists Agency orchestrating all these appearances and the release of the documentary…. leading up to the release of Adam’s new music. The stars definitely aligned perfectly this time. It’s an exciting time–yet again–in Adam’s fandom!

Adam’s devoted Mom and Glamberts always stand by him and so feeling the disappointment of Adam’s AI loss, consoled him by saying he won.

I’m more of a factualist and I believe till this day Adam lost AI S8…through no fault of his own; prejudice got the upper-hand. So when the 2019 golden Oscar cascaded on him after his We Are The Champions super performance… straight away, I recognised it… Adam got back what should have been his on the AI finale night…the Winner’s golden cascade, only his came 10 years late. By the way, I gave him a consolation title: All-time Runner-Up. 😂

One more thing, after Adam left the audition room, 2009, ‘Mama’, the blind behind the judges’ table crashed and Paula signalled to the security person who then fixed it. I recall thinking: not a good omen and so it played out…not good result for Adam. Adam may or may not know this peculiar blind-crashing; he left the room already; his Mom was waiting outside.

With reference to my comment above…
After all the dust settled, Adam is very grateful to American Idol who opened their Door to him with open arms so he could break through; the blind-crashing had a happy ending after all…my intuitive psychic fell short, just a wee bit. 🧐

Adam spent 13 hours filming the video of his new single, to continue early next morning…can hear a little of his singing in the background. Wait a bit for the music to come on.

I love watching Adam with Queen – he keeps the spirit of the Queen Musical Legacy alive and I think he has a wonderful range, plus he is as cheeky as Freddie. Queen didn’t replace Freddie, I think Adam does the songs in his style – wonderful to see Queen still performing.
