“Lambert is the man who would be Queen”–The Telegraph

More photos by Thilo Rahn here.

This one is extra special, very emotional….

Wembley Playlist is here.

Last gig of this leg of the tour. Pleased to say it like this because there have been several clues that the Queen circus will be on the road next year. Can I hear a whoohoooo!??

The Telegraph – Lambert proves himself worthy of Freddie’s crown – Queen + Adam Lambert, O2 Arena, review “… it was all a bit of panto, a theatrical form deeply embedded in Queen’s subversion of macho rock-and-roll tropes. Lambert is the incumbent in the role of Queen frontman and, after five years of performances with the British rock legends, he has really made the role his own…With fantastic players, a dazzling stage design, an almost unparalleled catalogue of classic songs, and an outstanding frontman, Queen still offer one of the most entertaining nights of rock and roll to be seen and heard anywhere…there is no sense of settling for second best when Lambert takes to the stage in gold cloak and crown. Absolutely powering through We Will Rock You and leading a mass singalong of We Are The Champions, Lambert is the man who would be Queen.”

Evening Standard – Queen & Adam Lambert review: New frontman has the Freddie factor “As Lambert was at pains to point out, he’s no Freddie — but he has the Freddie factor. His jet-pack voice was a thing of WTF? wonder throughout. The operatic Who Wants To Live Forever had so many high notes, it’s a wonder he didn’t come down with altitude sickness…You can’t replace the irreplaceable. But — mamma mia, mamma mia — in Lambert Queen have found a mighty plan B.”

Screen Goblin – QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT: LIVE AT THE O2 “The Wailers should have looked to Queen as an example. Adam Lambert does not try to be Freddie Mercury. He sings in his own style and has his own unique stage presence. He plays with the crowd well and brings a different kind of exuberance and humour. As a result the essence of a Queen live performance is maintained: the outrageous front man playing off the straight-faced instrumentalists. But it’s given a new energy. This isn’t reheated leftovers, this is a band experiencing a second coming.

The combination of Queen’s legendary back catalogue, world-class staging and the electric atmosphere guarantee a great night. But even with that in mind, May, Taylor and Lambert knocked it out of the park. Queen was always more than just Mercury, and while it’s undoubtedly poorer for his absence, with Adam Lambert they are still better than most of the bands out there.”

Express – QUEEN are still the champions of rock as they stage a killer show “How does a band achieve the impossible and replace the ultimate singer and showman Freddie Mercury? Well, by receiving a rare gift from the rock ‘n’ roll universe in the audaciously and individually talented Adam Lambert…The stage production, theatrics, band performance and audience reaction is probably the best that I have ever had the pleasure to witness as Queen killed it tonight!”

    Story time…

Adam was lying under an Angsana Tree which spreads its branches into a huge dome. Suddenly, he heard a voice singing…
Lay me down in darkness…Tell me what you see…

He sat up, looked around; there was no one. Adam laid down again and thought about the good fortune he had been having lately, the past five years actually. And then a hand touched his emerald-blond thick hair. He turned and lo and behold, a squirrel was foraging for some small nuts and accidentally rummaged his luscious hair thinking it could find something nutty. lwl!
Hello Squirrel…Adam smiled…and to his astonishment…Squirrel replied sexily:
    Helloo lovely man!
Then scrambled up a long sturdy branch. Another squirrel chased it and soon the Angsana Tree was teeming with squirrels; what jolly merry-making, thought Adam. He as always loves joining in…at once climbed the tree, plodding carefully as not to scare those furry animals. Not sensing any animosity, the squirrels soon climbed all over him nibbling him everywhere, maybe he tasted scrumptious, especially there. lol!
Hey Squirrels, lay off, that’s Green Snake’s property; no Trespassing!

The climax came when the squirrels burst into song in their high perfect pitch squeals; they went beyond the highest note he ever sang; a feast for his eyes and ears.
    They were squealing…

Lay me down in darkness…Tell me what you see…Tell me I’m the one…Show me I’m the one that you need… or that was what he heard.
Adam was humbled; there’s so much one can be inspired from nature even from little squirrels with bushy tails.

At this moment… Meow…meow…and Adam turned…this time a plump cat was looking at him. Goodness gracious, what’s happening…where am I…

A familiar voice faintly called out:
Hey Adam, what do you think of adding this guitar riff to Lay Me Down…

    Urghh huh ?…Oh! it’s brilliant…Thanks Nile!

Meow…meow, Nile’s plump cat had just woken up from its siesta on his keyboard synthesizer, and so did Adam Lambert in his snug armchair. lwl!

When I incidentally saw the date, it really shook me…a little psychic.

Story is based on a real situation – Nile and Adam were working in Nile’s studio and his plump white cat was snoozing on the synthesizer.
As for the squirrels, I see them outside my balcony every day scurrying up and down the Angsana Tree.

RIP Avicii Tim…. Passed away 20 April 2018 – he was a brilliant musician!

Avicii and Adam in better times

    Adam’s new header:

Yesterday, I was wondering why Adam removed the horizontal line from his A; I think I know now…

Avicii in Concert – Lay Me Down

    Avicii – Lay Me Down

    Published May 22, 2014

    ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The first time I watched this video, the white horse on screen attracted my attention… looks so free galloping, swishing its mane in the wind.
Lay Me Down was initiated by Nile Rogers. He called Adam Lambert at midnight to do a recording of the song in his studio. Adam was having some kind of hangover but turned up, worked past midnight. It was his first round and he thought his hangover voice might need some re-recording. Well, expert Nile Rogers said it was absolutely okay and it was sent for production the next morning.
Avicii’s passing away is much too soon, this highly talented Trio would have effloresced.
