Singapore Times – Lambert hits the high notes with Queen “Singer Adam Lambert must have one of the toughest jobs in the modern music world – standing in for the late Freddie Mercury of the British band Queen, who is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic frontmen in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. But as his performance at British rock icons Queen’s gig here at the Singapore Grand Prix last Saturday would attest, the former American Idol finalist can hold his own in the situation…”

Times of Israel – Adam Lambert prays at Western Wall. (PHOTOS) “American Idol runner-up, who performed with Queen in Tel Aviv this week, tours Jerusalem, shares photos of Israel trip.”

Sawatdi kha ! Adam and Queen in Bangkok; performing tonight 30 Sept 2016.

This Thai verbal greeting is followed by kha when spoken by a female and by khap when spoken by a male person.

Queen and Adam scale their pinnacle
Right till the last ounce of breath…those vocals!
Brian’s red guitar, twangs cosmic wonder
In sync with Roger and son Rufus’ drum battle
    As bass guitarist, Neil rumbles
    Keyboard maestro Spike Edney
    Salutes Singapore’s 90,000
A nostalgic City Hall haiku moment
    Frozen in retrospection
    Final QAL in Bangkok…Sawatdi ka
    Auld lang syne…Bon voyage…Sayonara…再见 Jai jian !

That was really neat Lam-My…..I assume you created this? 90,000 to see our boy who’s singing with Rock Royalty! How much better can it get? Now he needs a hit song or two coming up and more opportunities with Queen.

    Thank you Janet!

Yes, definitely, mine completely. I’ve been writing these Adam poems for several years, since 2010; started with haiku but soon haiku couldn’t contain Adam and Queen in three lines and so they got longer. lwl! I like Queen, they’re rather special, composers with great talents/skills. Freddie Mercury quite the musical genius. They found a dynamic Frontman, Adam, after Freddie passed on. Others didn’t seem to fit so well. Adam’s vocals know no bounds and his opera singing in some songs, fits Glam Rock; his crown, robe, intermixed with current trends and his vivacity.

Regarding the 90,000 crowd at City Hall Padang, the Singapore Grand Prix also helped augment it; there is a combine-ticket to watch both the Racers and QAL and many from the region would have flown in for a day of entertainment, but mostly locals. Parts of the Grand Prix tracks are actual roads around the Padang/Field.
I like the City Hall Dome being the backdrop against which Adam was singing; historic as that was the exact place, this centuries-old building that the actual signing of the Surrender of Singapore by the British to the Japanese took place on 15 February 1942 / WWll. And all hell broke loose afterwards. Thanks again!

Thank you for your interest Janet!

I looked it up a bit…The Retake back of Singapore by the British from the Japanese after WW2…that was formalised at City Hall not the Surrender which was signed at a place called Ford Factory, Singapore.
That’s why Singaporeans owe much to our founding Father Lee Kuan Yew. He put his foot down that we must not be kicked around like a football ever again. He and his Team fought tooth-and-nail to secure our Independence, 9 August 1965.

Thanks Lam-My…..I had no idea about any of this. I should read about this. I don’t even know how many people you have in Singapore. I will google this for sure. I really hope Queen puts together a DVD of this great collaboration. I heard it is coming, and it can’t be soon enough. What a great experience for Adam and Queen.

    Hi Janet!
I like your curiosity and interest in things around you. I am basically like that and I poke my nose everywhere…often times getting into trouble lol!

Okay, I wrote this haiku when Adam performed at the 2010 Grand Prix concert, same stage, Padang. He was in a group consisting of Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot and Daughtry.
Mariah in her advanced stage of pregnancy with twins, fell on the stage, but she was very composed and simply got up with some help and carried on singing, smiling sweetly.
Then Adam came on stage and oooh-la-la the girls screamed like crazy…you know why…he kissed Tommy Joe! lwl! Here’s my 3-line haiku:

    His ethereal voice
    Soars into the sunset sky
    20,000 – Padang 9 Nov 2010, 9:31 pm

p/s I have to keep close to a 5-7-5 syllable count within 3 lines / haiku. Thanks Janet!

Hi again Janet… He was performing Fever with that kiss. lwl! The sound system boomed across the road and a diehard Glambert taped…If I Had You…boom boom boom, from her hotel window. Adam’s voice kind of echoed through the Padang, giving rise to the word, ethereal in my above haiku.

Very cool. Thanks for the info. I do remember his singing with Daughtry and I thought, wow even more people came to see Adam.
