The Original High Glory Note
A meet and greet is never enough time for more than a quick photo but I wanted to say thank you. Not just for the amazing performance tonight in Buffalo but for writing an amazing song that was at the right moment in my life to point me in a different direction. Walking a razor’s edge of despair or happiness, the words in “Whataya want from me?” pushed me in the right direction.
After an abusive relationship that, at its peak, resulted in me receiving four stab wounds to my head and part of my ear bitten off by someone that supposedly loved me, I ended up meeting the man that truly would change my life.
I know the words you wrote had a specific meaning to you but for me, it helped me (and my husband…married five years now, together eight) to get through 14 months of night terrors, severe PTSD and so many other things that I can’t even fathom how we got to where we are today.
When days were at their worst, I put it on repeat play. As for my husband, well I could not have put it into words any better than you did. And he understood how I truly felt and stuck with me.
That’s the beautiful thing about art…everyone has a unique experience in its beauty.
What I spoke of in this post is just the tip of the iceberg of my experience. I do not let it weigh me like an anchor but tell my story so others can realize that no matter how bad it gets, there is always hope
I don’t know what “Whataya want from me?” means to you but to me, it meant a chance of surviving and even more important, at happiness.
After all of that, the words ‘thank you’ can never express how I truly feel, but the sentiment behind them can.
Thank you Adam, for allowing me to have a perspective of your art that changed my life…and thank you to my husband Francisco, because you didn’t give up.
Adam Lambert Opens Up About the Relationship with His Fans
St. Louis Post-Dispatch – Adam Lambert shows who the real winner is in his overdue return to St. Louis “…From the beginning, he was nearly too good for “American Idol,” with his big voice and persona, a marked departure from the show’s typical mediocrity.”
Only a few of his ditties are memorable, but Lambert possesses an unforgettable voice.
The gleaming high notes he hit on the beat-heavy “The Original High” evoked Martha Wash’s piercing wail on C&C Music Factory’s 1990 hit “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now).” As his four-piece band played the straight-ahead rocker “Lucy,” Lambert howled with the power of the heavy metal icon Ronnie James Dio. A snippet of “Another One Bites the Dust” reminded fans that Lambert regularly fills in for the late Freddie Mercury at Queen shows. His supple singing on “Shady,” one of several Lambert songs that seems to be based on Michael Jackson’s “Bad,” was equally impressive.”
DEPARTMENT OF EYE CANDY
And now he’s a grown ass man…
PRESS AND BLOG PICKS
Year in Review: Top 5 Pop Albums “1. Adam Lambert – The Original High. The junior effort from American Idol baby combines the feel of his previous records with considerably updated and even more club-accessible jams. A lot less retro but still with a few harder rock numbers, his sound remains consistent but never fails to impress with its fresh and sometimes shocking motifs and frank lyrics.”
