Billboard – Adam Lambert Reveals Cover Art to New Album ‘The Original High’ “The Original High marks a full collaboration between the American Idol alum and Swedish hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback. Indeed, an early listen to several tracks on the album reveals the duo’s penchant for pop wizardry, especially on songs like the mid-tempo “Ghost Town,” which nods to Katy Perry and Kiesza in its use of 90s synth, and fellow Swedes Peter Bjorn and John in its embrace of the whistle as hook…Elsewhere on the record, Lambert showcases his signature soaring wail as he reaches his own personal high — note-wise — occasionally stepping in with an impressive falsetto over a dance-y beat. Nile Rodgers-esque guitars appear throughout as funk stylings of the don’t-believe-me-just-watch variety. Hints of Robyn and Erasure abound, and while we can’t reveal too much more, know that Lambert did all the background vocals…Excited yet? Let us know your hopes for High in the comments… “

Popcrush – Adam Lambert Reveals ‘Ghost Town’ + ‘The Original High’ Track List and Album Art “The chilling imagery totally fits in with the title of the song, but it’s the tone of Adam’s voice that really takes us to that place of lonesomeness. Even as the song segues into the EDM-tinged chorus, we can still sense how haunted Adam feels.”

PRESS AND BLOG PICKS
The Guardian – The playlist: pop – LCMDF, Lion Babe, Cajsa Siik and more “Starting with a bluesy guitar and Lambert’s close-up vocals, Ghost Town immediately feels like an evolution for a singer who previously avoided subtlety like the plague. Forty five seconds in and the whole thing morphs: a throbbing bassline and fingerclick beat taking us out of the open-mic night and into a late-90s club, before pop’s current new obsession – the whistle – emerges for the hypnotic, wordless chorus. Lyrically melancholic (the verses ooze with dejection) but musically upbeat, it carries all the hallmarks of a Max Martin future classic.”
Belfast Telegraph – Lambert: I might tour alone! “”For the Queen fans out there that saw the tour, Brian May is on one of the [new album’s] tracks, playing guitar on a song called Lucy,” Adam said. “I played him the demo and he was like ‘Oh, I love this, I have some ideas.’ So he came in with all this great stuff to contribute. It was really exciting.””
MTV – Warning: Adam Lambert’s New Single, ‘Ghost Town,’ May Give You An ‘Eargasm’ “Adam Lambert has finally released his latest single, “Ghost Town,” a dark pop track that’ll make you want to dance. So basically, it’s great. The former “American Idol” contestant dropped the first single off his third album, The Original High on Tuesday (April 21), along with a lyric video, showing off a haunting new side that brings an unexpected mix of sounds.”
Female First – Adam Lambert single review – ‘Ghost Town’ “This is without a doubt the best single Adam has ever released and the one that is most likely to see huge commercial success. With some good radio play and support from media outlets, it should soar to the top of the charts in no time, and anything less than top ten would be a travesty. Can it reach number one? That’s down to the fans and new supporters. It should certainly do so. I’d go as far as to say that this is the best pop single to come out of the year so far.”
Daily Star (UK) – VIDEO: Amazing new Adam Lambert track Ghost Town thrills fans ““I’ve done the more bubblegum stuff, I’ve done the camp stuff, and now I want to encourage people to face their sh**,” he added. “I want to show them the part of me that’s not all polished… I want it to be real, you know?””
HuffPost – Adam Lambert Releases ‘Ghost Town,’ Announces New Album ‘THE ORIGINAL HIGH’ “One of our favorite queer musicians is about to be back on top. There are few openly gay singers whose music is both as versatile and mainstream as Lambert’s — and now we have a whole new album of it to look forward to. The singer announced the new album this week, a 14-track record called “THE ORIGINAL HIGH.” Alongside a large-scale media campaign to promote this new artistic endeavor, Lambert has also released the lyric video for a song called “Ghost Town,” which proves to be both haunting and dance-heavy at the same time.”
Advocate – LISTEN: Adam Lambert Releases New Single ‘Ghost Town’ “Lambert’s raw and funky “Ghost Town” finds him trying to believe “in God and James Dean / but Hollywood sold out.” It goes without saying his voice sounds amazing.”
MetroUK – Adam Lambert finally puts fans out of their misery by unveiling new single Ghost Town in full “Having had a sneaky listen to two additional tracks from Adam’s upcoming third studio album, The Original High, we can tell you that this is only the tip of the iceberg – expect an ear-gasm of the highest pop magnitude.”
MetroSource – Adam Lambert Sets The Original High Release Date “Glamberts rejoice! Adam Lambert has announced the rollout of his third studio album, titled The Original High. The album, Lambert’s first on Warner Bros. Records, is set for release on June 16, 2015 — just in time to be a great Pride season soundtrack. Recorded in Stockholm and Los Angeles with Max Martin and Shellback as executive producers (Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Pink, etc.), The Original High includes collaborations with Tove Lo and — in an especially kickass announcement — Brian May of Queen.”
Pop Justice – Adam Lambert “Ghost Town” “Part of the fuss from the media is down to the click thing, but part of it’s also down to the fact that when you meet Adam you meet someone who speaks and thinks like a proper actual popstar and who – unlike most popstars – understands exactly who what and where he is in the pop cosmos. But he couples that self awareness with an ambition to take his career somewhere new.”
PressParty – Adam Lambert on success: ‘I didn’t know how far this path would take me’ “”I got back at the end of February and then had finishing touches to put on my album. It was fun – it was unbelievable. That was the biggest honour and I had a blast doing it, I enjoyed doing it. That and getting a GRAMMY nomination were the two big highlights things so far.””
Pop Messiah – THE 3RD COMING: ADAM LAMBERT’S #GHOSTTOWN BEGINS THE RAPTURE OF “THE ORIGINAL HIGH” “…This track is ALL ABOUT DAT BUILD. It starts off airy and meandering, adding layers and intensity as the song progresses, but JUST WAIT FOR IT! After the second hook, the bridge goes balls out, with Lambert’s vocals soaring and climaxing with what might be the most glorious vocal performance of the word “Oh” that I can recall on record, before the chorus explodes in whistles and basslines once more to finish you off. It’s the most transcendant 15 seconds of recorded music I’ve heard this year, and for me personally, it’s the biggest payoff of the entire track.”
Female First – Adam Lambert single review – ‘Ghost Town’ “Transport yourself into Adam Lambert‘s ‘Ghost Town’ heart with his brand new single, kickstarting with 45 seconds of melodic and soothing vocal tones before rampaging through an intense and exciting chorus that showcases Adam at his very best. The singer is searching his soul with the first cut from his third studio record, and you’ll be inclined to do the same with your first listen to this track.”
My Badass Alter Ego – Lucy on the Eve of Ghost Town “In an extremely old track by Brian called The Night Comes Down (from their first album), there is the line “Lucy was high and so was I”. This song was written only a few years after the likes of Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds and its overt references to drug use. There is almost a hint of the Beatles at the start of it before it morphs into prog rock…Of course, this could be a complete red herring, but it’s an interesting thought that a line from decades ago might feature again somehow.”
The Magic Critique – ‘Ghost Town’ by Adam Lambert “However, the bridge comes and Adam decides to let this ghost town have it. “There’s no one left in the world / I’m gunslingin / Don’t give a damn if I go down, down,” he wails, piercing through the hypnotic spell he has put us under. This is a slice of perfection, and it just goes to show that Adam is one of the few true male pop stars we have.”
The orchestration and choreography of Adam Lambert’s new music release by his team (while navigating the ever changing playing field) looks very promising for 2015. His label, WMG is clearly investing in the overall success of his talents and WMG stands as a key player in the transition to digital platforms and pushing for fair compensation models. The partnership looks like a good match.
DECONSTRUCTING GHOST TOWN, PART ONE “…It paints a picture of a modern artist, a man, in the middle of it all, the city, of his social circles, feeling heartbreakingly and devastatingly alone, emotionally, spiritually, professionally. That feeling is also very universal, evoking collective sadness in everyone who has ever experienced it and despite the somber maturity of the song, it can find its way to everyone, no matter where they live, who they love, or what they do. The gates can only be locked for so long, and Adam is still on his trespassing crusade. He’ll wake up from this dream to a much more beautiful reality.”
Bustle – Adam Lambert’s ‘The Original High’ Track List Is Here, So What Might The Songs Be About? A fan havin’ some fun speculatin’ “After listening to “Ghost Town” for the 531st time this morning (I’m only slightly exaggerating), I turned my attention to the rest of The Original High’s track list. This was my first thought: “Whoa. Tove Lo AND Brian May are featured guests? YES.” (My love for Lo is well-documented online.) This was my second thought: “Wow. We’re going to be blessed with 13 new Lambert tracks in less than two months? YESSS.” Can you even believe it?! The excitement is almost too much for me to bear…”
