Adam Lambert Highlights – January 18-31, 2015
Forgive me… I’ve had a pretty crazy January and have barely been able to keep up with all the Adam news, the torrents of amazing tour videos, the photos, the tweets, the NEWS! I did have the amazing good fortune to be in London on January 18 to see Adam + Queen at the O2. Met up there with Glambert friends from New England and Singapore — what am amazing global network we have! Then it was off to the World Economic Forum in Davos to hear a bunch of world leaders (John Kerry, François Hollande, Yitzhak Rabin) and business moguls (Bill Gates) pontificate. Lovely dinners with Peter Gabriel, Will.i.am and Kofi Annan. Most fun moment was sharing some Glambert secrets with Michael Wolf, former president of MTV Networks, now a music industry senior poohbah. Lovely, lovely man. He clearly knew all about Adam and seemed absolutely fascinated by the ingenuity of the Glambert army. So, good times! But it all paled next to the Big O2…Adam is my drug. What can I say? – J
IF THIS DOESN’T MAKE YOUR HEART STOP…
…in Adam Lambert, Queen have found the only singer who could step into those very big shoes. As a tribute to Freddie Mercury and as a gig in its own right, this was a glorious success. Amazing.

Glowing comments about Adam. Thanks to Xena for digging these up! Read them all here.
Queen were unbelievably good. Adam Lambert fitted in perfectly.
More OTT than Freddie, but all with tongue in cheek. And boy, he can really sing. Brilliant, brilliant concert!
Adam Lambert was simply amazing as the new front man of Queen. Brian May, Roger Taylor and the rest of the band musical skills were second to none x amazing concert

PRESS AND BLOG PICKS
Evening News – Review: Queen + Adam Lambert @ Manchester Arena “The rock band’s new frontman well and truly converted Manchester into a city of Glamberts with this five-star performance…Asked what they think of Lambert the crowd gives a standing ovation. A frontman fit for a Queen.”

Daily Record – Queen find fitting new lead in former American Idol star Adam Lambert as they rock The Hydro “If he’d just tried to do a Freddie impersonation it would have been awful but the American singer was firmly his own man, with a charisma and star quality that couldn’t be denied. Funny, camp and in your face, Lambert stole the show, helped in no small part by that incredible voice. Make no mistake, technically speaking alone, this guy leaves pretty much everyone in the dust. Seriously. He’s that good…He wasn’t trying to replace the great man but he was doing an incredible job of paying tribute to him. So much so that when he left the stage for a few songs in the middle of the set, you missed him instantly.”
OK Time for the True Confession Remarkable blog post by the son of a Glambert: “There is something powerful and direct about music, and its ability to strike a chord of memory — days, even years later. Having spent several hours before and after each of the concerts visiting with my Mom, and with different Glamily members, and hearing their stories, their enthusiasm for the music and the courage and empowerment it has brought to them, while simultaneously being confronted with my own ‘hopes and fears and terrors’ that have been buried behind walls of time, and to which the music has somehow brought me direct and immediate access, I am truly overwhelmed, and have spent most of my last day here in Las Vegas simply sitting in the lovely chaise in the amazing window of this gorgeous room writing notes, in an attempt to capture all of the distinct yet inter-related threads of thought these conversations have brought to light…”
Billboard – Happy Birthday, Adam Lambert: 5 Great Performances “The American Idol runner-up-turned-Queen frontman is 33 today. His next year has plenty for fans to be excited about: His next solo album, produced by Max Martin and Shellback, is expected to be released this summer, with a first single due in April…Before we move onto a new chapter, we’re looking back at five of our favorite Lambert performances, in honor of his birthday. Which one is your fave?”
Super-cool Guy Blog – QUEEN + Adam Lambert: The Queen has found her King Another great post by a Queen fan: Each night, I got a kick out of seeing Adam return to the stage with a crown on his head for the “We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions” encore. The European crowds came in largely sceptic about this new young guy trying to “replace” Freddie Mercury. Each night, Adam Lambert had to prove himself and win over a new crowd. And win them he did. Each night, he fought, conquered, and won the right to wear that crown. Each night, we witnessed the crowning of a new king. That was a very powerful moment. Truly, the queen had found her king.””
AND TRESSPASSING GETS A KICKASS REVIEW
Billboard – In Defense of Adam Lambert’s ‘Trespassing’: Why His Last Album Should Be Rediscovered “…Trespassing DID have a radio hit, produced and co-written by Pharrell Williams one year before “Get Lucky” and “Blurred Lines” brought the N.E.R.D. whiz back to the pop-culture forefront. “Kickin’ In” is a crazy under-appreciated club banger, complete with cowbell, a crackling vocal take from Lambert and Pharrell onboard as a willing sidekick in a liquored-up adventure. “Kickin’ In” zooms, stacking its synthesizers in the chorus but leaving gaps of air for a winding intro and a bass lick before the third refrain. Maybe the BPM was simply too high for “Kickin’ In” to land as a single, but in hindsight, the Great Pharrell Comeback of 2012 certainly could have started one year earlier.”
