Top 10 Adam Lambert Moments of 2014
By Juneau, with a lot of help from the Glam Sistahs. With so much love and wishes for peace on earth, peace in your hearts.
Compiling the “top 10” list is one of my favorite tasks each year. Not only do I have an excuse–not that one is required–to pore over the best photos and videos from the past 12 months, but I also get to steep myself in the sheer pleasure of measuring Adam’s growth (that sounds rather naughty) as an artist, as a man, as a rock god. The year was completely dominated by his epic world tour with Queen. There were highlights almost too numerous to count, but nothing entices me like a Sisyphean task! I could not have rolled this boulder up the hill without the helping hands of so many beautiful friends in the “Adam Group 1” Facebook group. So without further ado, here is the year’s top 10. I’m sure I missed many. Those omissions are mine alone–let the tomatoes fly!
1. Queen + Adam Tour…Your first time
“I was at Chicago, and the anticipation, excitement in the air was unbelievable…And when Adam was out on the thrust, singing Under Pressure…tears formed in my eyes, too. All of Adam’s dreams had come true. ” – Marg R.
2. Coronation of Prince Adam
“When Adam was crowned by Brian at the end of the concert will be my number one” – Deb Brown
3. Somebody to Love – Toronto
“My favorite moment happened at every concert, and it was the moment in Somebody To Love when he hit those glory notes, had the audience in the palm of his hands, and did the twirl with the fringe flying. To me it was the embodiment of the little boy with the dress-up box, meeting the grown up Zodiac performer, meeting the bona fide rock star, twirling in joy and glory.” – Ellen S.
4. Who Wants to Live Forever
“Adam and Brian lock in a passionate duet, pouring grief and defiance into every phrase, voice and wailing guitar seizing and squeezing every heart in that vast space as the white lasers shatter into shards and rain down from that disco ball. Adam reaches his hand into a beam of light as he thunders “touch my world with your fingertips”…it is over-the-top theatrical, and yet it works. This, ladies and gentlemen, is how you do it.” – Juneau
5. Madison Square Garden
“For me it was MSG. Adam had mentioned in the past how he always wanted to sing there-loved when he said “Hello NYC” and after spitting champagne into the audience, when he said “hello mom”…. – Gayle R.
6. “I like nuts” – Auckland, New Zealand
“The “I like nuts” statement which, at first, seemed as much a surprise to Adam as to the audience. That moment was quintessential Adam–the wit, his ability to improv in the moment, his courage and outrageousness, the gift he has to laugh at himself and enjoy it all the while.” – Tanyss M.
7. Today Show Australia Interview, August 25
“I always enjoy interviews with Adam. He is so well-spoken, self-deprecating and humorous. I love the part from the Today Show in Australia when he says “it feels as if we are the champions!”” – Stacy H.
8. Sharing the stage with Lady Gaga
9. Classic Rock Awards Band of the Year
10. X Factor UK
Bonus: New Year’s Eve in London
“Now you all have me crying , tears of joy! All these special moments, we knew they were coming but I don’t think any of us could have pictured what happened this year. So, so proud of our boy. And January is just around the corner, we get to see it happen again.” – Ellen S.
