QUOTE OF THE DAY

Thanks to Tanyss for finding this one!

Loved this comment from Geoffrey after one of the Australian reviews: “Freddie was great, but seriously all these men have placed him on a pedestal so high they can’t see what’s going on right in front of them. And I say men because most women get Adam, it seems. Freddie was not a beautiful sexy man, like Adam. Adam has a whole other kind of raw charisma that men may be too proud to admit they appreciate. He also has a kind and gentle way about him that is intriguing when he’s throwing out his own brand of testosterone – it’s dizzying really, and addictive. Brian and
Roger are men who get it and aren’t afraid to show it. You can see their huge man crushes from the back of an arena. All three of these men are charismatic, and Adam is one sexually complicated beast.”

“KIND AND GENTLE WAY”

Yet another example of Adam’s thoughtful and loving spirit…Adam let his fans know about Joan Rivers’ recent hospitalization after she went into cardiac arrest in New York City.

PRESS AND BLOG PICKS

Byron Cooke – QUEEN & ADAM LAMBERT – ICONS & A FUTURE ICON “…I witnessed something bigger than a great Queen show tonight. Before my eyes, I saw the birth of a new rock icon. There were Aussies at Rod Laver Arena tonight who turned up knowing NOTHING of Adam’s career to date …..and left with a new favourite singer…”

Take40 -Review: Queen and Adam Lambert, Melbourne, 29th August ”How do you know when you’ve just witnessed an epic (yes, EPIC) gig? You sit up for hours afterwards playing old videos of the band you just saw, whilst struggling to put into words what just happened because you’re covered in goose-bumps all the way up to the fingertips…”

JD’s Sports Rants – Queen + Adam Lambert hit the right notes  “…Lambert was actually quite outstanding.  Inconceivably more camp than Freddie, the one-time American Idol contestant’s soaring vocals and charismatic presence reiterated that May and Taylor are no dummies, and wouldn’t have embarked on such a risky venture without happening across the appropriate individual and concept…Adam saved the Queen, breathing new life into a supergroup whose music continues to win new fans, my two youngsters included.”

Daily Review – QUEEN AND ADAM LAMBERT LIVE REVIEW (ALLPHONES ARENA, SYDNEY) “Lambert has the technical skills and power to rival any pop-rock singer working today and delivered a faultless vocal performance, absolutely tearing down every musical road the band takes. He is particularly impressive in more soulful hits like Somebody to Love and Who Wants to Live Forever.

Sydney Morning Herald – Queen and Adam Lambert review: Singalongs and a ‘selfie stick’ “While his powerful, impressive voice proved more than capable of doing justice to Queen’s iconic rock anthems, Lambert found his own during Killer Queen. For the first time in the show, Lambert gave the audience a sense of who he was and seemed fuelled by the welcome response he got.”

Perth Now – Review: Queen and Adam Lambert at Perth Arena (PHOTOS) “But Lambert is a flamboyant, born-performer with astonishing vocal range and an infectious energy that commands attention — and, perhaps most importantly, he never tries to imitate Mercury. From the notes he hits to the way he struts and thrusts around on stage, Lambert puts his own spin on the performance — no doubt only too aware of the level of risk and judgment involved in daring to share a stage with Queen.”

The Rockpit -QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT PERTH ARENA LIVE REVIEW 2014. “Will Adam do Freddie justice? Yes. Unequivocally yes. Is he Freddie? No he’s not. He doesn’t have to be and he didn’t try to be. He’s Adam Lambert and he’s a perfect fit. He’s flamboyant, charismatic, deliciously sexy and funny. His voice has to be heard to be believed. Range to burn, rich tone and I believed every word he sang. Apart from Freddie I can think of no one else who could pull off ‘Killer Queen’ draped over a chez lounge with a bottle of Moet in one hand and wearing six inch heels. He has a deep understanding of the theatrical and a deep respect for the music. And above all he has fun…In short his show was perfection from beginning to end. I do not know when we may see its like again and I urge you go if you can. It will live with me forever.”

Tonedeaf – Spoiler Alert: Does Adam Lambert Live Up To Freddie Mercury’s Legacy? “Few singers have ever had both the stamina and range of Mercury, but Lambert showed he has both…After forty years together, and in various forms with a multitude of guest additions, Queen’s latest tour is so much more than just a band doing it all again. The night and all performances were an honour to the lives, and the friendships forged through the band. We will never get the chance to see Queen in its original entirety, but the current line-up is an incredible tribute, and is definitely the next best thing.”

Rolling Stone – Lady Gaga Joins Queen for ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ in Sydney “While the collision of Gaga and Queen may seem random, she has actually worked with both Lambert and Brian May in the past: She co-wrote the track “Fever” which appeared on Lambert’s debut LP, For Your Entertainment, while May played guitar on Gaga’s Born This Way single “Yoü and I,” a song that also featured a sample of Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” With that in mind, the most surprising part about Gaga’s Queen appearance is that she sang “Another One Bites the Dust” instead of “Radio Ga Ga.”

VIDEO AND AUDIO FAVS

Ryan Seacrest – Adam Lambert, Lady Gaga Cover Queen’s ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ (VIDEO) “The pop-rock stars aligned on Wednesday night when Lady Gaga joined Adam Lambert and Queen onstage in Sydney, Australia and tag-teamed for the legendary rock band’s 1980 classic, “Another One Bites the Dust.” Mother Monster, who was in town for her ArtRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball tour, was rocking a curly wig with a crown-printed tank top when she was called out by the former American Idol contestant — clad in a leopard suit — for the surprise performance.”

Here’s a better video via Adam Lambert Hungary than the one posted on Ryan Seacrest:

At what concert was that, Xena? (the cabaret sing-a-long) And what was the song?

      • September 8, 2014 2:35 pm

I’m referring to the Perth video with the sing-a-long in the video above and make the comparison to a performance in a small, intimate club when he riffed on the song in a bluesy fashion and bantered with the audience to get them going. I was thinking of “What’s Going On” Upright Cabaret

Thanks, Xena. Wouldn’t we have loved to have been right there in The Upright Cafe that New Year’s Eve? Guess we missed our chance, but what a cutie pie in that haircut and t-shirt. Just a kid then.

I’m so happy for the amazing success of Queen + Adam Lambert Tour 2014…but I’m sad too…cuz it’s over! So many exciting nights of hurrying home from work to see what videos and pictures were posted.Would Adam do the pelvic thrust on SCC? Would he lick the microphone? That sweet chemistry between Adam and Brian and on and on…Now what am I going to do??? I’m feeling the withdrawal symptoms already… :((

I know exactly what you mean. What are we going to do with ourselves until Adam’s next album comes out? I’ll still check videos and pics but they’ll now be mostly pap pics I imagine.
