Apologies for the late posting… some favorite images from the Los Angeles show. Our fingers are more worn out than Brian May’s knees! Lordy lordy!! And we have promised ourselves to not watch TOO many live streams or moon over too many photos. We want to still be sort of virgins when we have our live dates with Adam on the East Coast. That’s our lame story and we’re sticking to it!

No matter how many live streams you’ve watched or pictures you’ve moon over, licked, slurped over cannot really match watching him live; hear him sing live. The aura, excitement, energy, happiness cannot be contained within you it has to emanate from within you, off you and when it does, the tears come, at least for me. I was there in the LA Forum, with my niece, I told her how happy I was that I was there. It was magical, sort of a fairy tale, but it was real, happening. Queen Fans in front of me, with their fist proudly held up, Glamberts, waving with both hands, all around and everyone singing in unison. Adam as beautiful as ever, even my niece mentioned it to me how amazingly beautiful Adam is in person, she was in awe. She was with me too in The Glam nation and Trespassing concerts. Brian May was visibly touched when he looked up to see that the Forum was FULL of fans anticipating, exited for their home town hero as well as diehard Queen Fans.

Was at the LA concert! It was surreal…as soon as Adam walked on stage you could feel the electricity! His aura was magnetic….I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. Brian’s guitar was hauntingly beautiful and the band was amazing….but my eyes kept going back to Adam and his voice, it pierced my heart!

Did anyone read the L.A. Times Entertainment reporter’s review of the Forum concert? I’ll look up the link and post it. I read it a few days ago and it certainly was not fabulous. I think the reviewer was mostly criticizing Queen rather than Adam–for not bringing anything new to the table in this tour. I thought the FORBES review addressed that issue very well–that QUEEN is not out to make a career like the younger bands, trying to establish a voice and make new music–They’ve already had their careers big-time and are just enjoying doing the music live again with a great front man while paying tribute to Freddy. The La Times reviewer, as critical as he was, still gave some back-handed compliments to Adam, though always pointing out he wasn’t as good as Freddy.

    L.A.Times review:

Obviously, the reviewer thinks no one–even QUEEN–has the right to play QUEEN songs LIVE without Freddy Mercury. I’ll have to wait until I see the show when it comes East, but I do wonder if the reviewer could be right about the decision to have Adam, towards the end, start singing BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY, then have Freddy Mercury via video monitor take over. Almost like pitting them against one another–just like the tour was trying to avoid–making a comparison. Seems a real set-up. I know they meant it as a tribute and maybe that comes across when it’s live, but…
    Any other thoughts from others?

I think when you have Adam singing BR before Freddie sings it, you can see that Adam has the better voice and more power. It is evident in the trailer for this concert when Adam sings BR before Freddie does. I agree with everything said above about Adam. I am going with my nephew in Philadelphia. I told him I will be a mess, and I know that I am going to cry from happiness. Adam has sex appeal running through his veins, something I did not see in Freddie. Brian has said that Adam’s vocal instrument is unmatched in history. It is so hard to believe that if not for Idol, this masterpiece would not have been discovered. Adam has been a game changer for Idol, for music, for live performance, for equal rights, and for what we should expect from an artist. He is more than Elvis, more than Sinatra, more than Freddie, more than them all put together. If you added up the best qualities of every male singer who has fronted a band, Adam is more than the sum.

I totally agree with you, Sue, about Freddy not having any sex appeal. As I watched old videos of him singing and connecting with huge crowds, I was incredibly impressed once again, but something seemed to be missing–Yes, SEX APPEAL.
