  Michael Orland Portrait

MICHAEL ORLAND is currently the Pianist, Arranger and Associate Musical Director for the hit FOX-TV series AMERICAN IDOL. We “discovered” Michael behind the scenes when Adam thanked him after his striking and memorable performance of “If I Can’t Have You” on the Top 7 episode.

Year after year, Michael has mentored and worked with the winners! Arranging their music is only part of what he does and this year what a wonderful outcome for us – a bevy of top-notch female singers who entertained us week after week. Sometimes we were moved to tears. We’ll hear beautiful music from Candice, Kree, Angie and Amber. Do you have a favourite song you would like to hear? Tell us in the comments below.

We’ll play some of the winner songs and favourites of the top four stars! Join us to chat with Michael about his experiences working on AI this year.

    Dear Juneau and Xena,
First of all I would like to say I enjoyed the radio show with Michael Orland. I haven’t watched AI after “Season Adam”. Secondly, I want to tell you how much I am enjoying your book, “On the Meaning of Adam Lambert”. I have been meaning to buy it but always procrastinated. On My 26th which was my birthday, my daughter who knows me inside out (but never have I told her about this book, she said she just went to Amazon) and her husband gave the book as one of my birthday gifts! Upon unwrapping it, I gave a yelp, a battle cry, a scream, etc. thoroughly surprised and overjoyed. To my “How did you know?”, my daughter nonchalantly said “found it in Amazon”. This daughter (my one and only child) also brought me to the American Idol Tour with Adam. She knows I love Adam so much. She calls him the “Freight Train”. Don’t they ever eliminate him or Evvy would be so mad!. She never rolls her eyes or anything. She records Adam on her DVR when I request her to do so. Anyway, what a thrilling book! It touches the soul, spirit, and the essence of being woman, the liberated, intelligent woman. Hats off to you both and I am sorry that those who had bad things to say about you ladies and/or the book, are missing something that they will never find or experience. I laugh,I cry and thoroughly enjoy reading the book. Excuse me, I just have to continue reading. Please write a sequel.
THANK YOU. LOVE YOU GUYS AND ALL THE GLAMBERTINAS. I will be at the Del Mar Concert in San Diego on Jul 2.

      Envy, Lucky you!
That book was a labour of love and an accurate testament to the feelings that over a hundred women had during those heady days in the summer of ’09. Our newfound love for Adam was bursting until we found an outlet on the WOWOWOW site. The Alegra Houston article brought us together and as we witnessed the electricity between Juneau & Xena the words were spoken “you guys should put this in a book!”. It was rollicking fun, heartfelt admissions of love, and explorations of the question ” What is it about Adam Lambert?
The “bad things” were/are still puzzling and totally miss the point of the adventure!
      Glad you’re enjoying it!

I wondered who “E: was. Thanks for the reply. You are one fascinating lady! Almost done reading. Continued reading the book from Newark Airport to LAX. Got notes all over and in between the “work to survive” would do some research on the footnotes.I have not seen a lot of those mentioned. My only regret is that I discovered this blog not as early as I should have. I have read Alegra Houston’s article in this blog and loved it. Since the book touched on a lot of suppositions, I would say, a sequel should be written and a lot of good things happened in Adam’s life especially the recent events of being honored and/or receiving awards. I wonder what marks Adam got from his professors? Or is it the other way around? Perhaps both ways! Fascinating, beautiful super intelligent ladies, funniest ever, thank you.
