On Saturday, May 11th, at their 24th Annual Media Awards in San Francisco, Adam Lambert will receive the Davidson/Valentini Award from the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). The award is presented to an out LGBT media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality for the LGBT community.

Anyone who knows anything about Adam knows that his heart, soul and efforts are always visibly with those in the LGBT community, especially LGBT youth, and the issues that affect their lives. So why would the Senior Publisher, Norm Kent, of a gay community newspaper write an opinion piece that says Adam doesn’t deserve this award?

Join us and our guests Editor-in-Chief Gideon Grudo and Associate Publisher Jason Parsley of the South Florida Gay News (SFGN), who are currently engaged in a difference of opinion with their Senior Publisher. Jason is the man who interviewed Adam prior to his being given the Key to the City of Miami during the recent Florida Pride Festival. Gideon is the author of the SFGN editorial rebuttal to Mr. Kent. Gideon and Jason, who strongly support GLAAD’s selection of Adam as the recipient of this year’s award, will talk with co-hosts Xena and Thea about how the issue arose and the aftermath of Jason’s interview, the Senior Publisher’s piece and Gideon’s rebuttal.

Join us for what promises to be a stimulating look into the world of gay journalism and its view of gay activism.

I think sometimes these things are way overdone. Maybe Kent just wanted to get some hits and maybe he really believes this. It’s not like Adam has been in this business for 20 years. Every one’s opinions will differ. I think Adam has thrown himself under the bus for his community, but I don’t know what’s out there. We need to be supportive of Adam first and voice our opinions on his worthiness for awards. There will always be people who either don’t like Adam or respect him for some reason. I just ignore those people. I am GLAAD at least some of Adam’s community is supporting him. Now tell them all to buy his music.

It is a shame that even things like this, some people discredit Adam. His music, and his talents are ignored. Mud is thrown at him without even bothering to get to know him. I “introduced” Adam to people that are close to me and none have said anything bad about him. They love his music too. Adam is very humble and down to earth and these qualities endear him more to me and to all Glamberts out there. We just have to be patient and just as glamity58 say, everyone’s opinions will differ. The truth will will out in the end. Thank you,Gideon (your name in my country represents that of a stalwart fighter)and Jason for your views. And to Juneau & Xena, Claudia and all you lovely ladies, Glamberts everywhere, BE CALM BE ALWAYS GLAMBERTS AND CARRY ON.(A beautiful lady originally posted in FB, “BE CALM BE A GLAMBERT AND CARRY ON”). This show will be something to look forward to today.
