MTV Buzzworthy: New Video: David Bowie, ‘Where Are We Now?’  We’re going to take a break from bawling over #Haylor for a minute to cover a very exciting (and historic) development. To start, today is ’70s glam-pop singer David Bowie’s 66th birthday. (BTW, if you like Adam Lambert or Lady Gaga, two contemporary artists strongly influenced by Bowie, then he should already be high up there on your playlist!) …

Idol Chatter: 2012 in Review: The best Idol videos  2. Adam Lambert: “Never Close Our Eyes”

The Season 8 runner-up went futuristic sci-fi for the second video from his “Trespassing” album. He plays the role of a rebel in a world of conformists. And starts his own mini-revolution. Big surprise, right? Anyway, I’m a sucker for synchronized floor-scrubbing sequences, so this makes the list.

TV Guide: On Set With Idol’s New Tune-Up Keith Urban compliments Adam! “TV Guide Magazine: Keith, you left a judging gig on Australia’s The Voice to join Idol. Why is Idol the better fit?

Urban: The fact that it’s given birth to legitimate artists, not just people that were popular that season and then faded away. In a lot of cases, those who didn’t win — the Daughtrys, the Adam Lamberts — have gone on to sell records and have real careers. There was the credibility factor I really loved….”

Were is David Bowie? New Single and Pre-Order of First New Album in 10 Years Exclusively Launching in the iTunes Store Today

New York, NY–January 8, 2013–In the early morning hours of Tuesday the 8th January, Iso/RCA Records released a new single by David Bowie titled ‘Where Are We Now?’ exclusively launching in the iTunes Store in 119 countries. David Bowie’s first new album in ten years and his 30th studio recording, THE NEXT DAY is also available as a pre-order on iTunes with a wide release scheduled for March. January the 8th is of course David Bowie’s birthday, a timely moment for such a treasure to appear as if out of nowhere.

Throwing shadows and avoiding the industry treadmill is very David Bowie despite his extraordinary track record that includes album sales in excess of 130 million not to mention his massive contributions in the area of art, fashion, style, sexual exploration and social commentary. It goes without saying that he has sold out stadiums and broken ticket records throughout the world during this most influential of careers.

In recent years radio silence has been broken only by endless speculation, rumour and wishful thinking ….a new record…who would have ever thought it, who’d have ever dreamed it! After all David is the kind of artist who writes and performs what he wants when he wants…when he has something to say as opposed to something to sell. Today he definitely has something to say.

Produced by long term collaborator Tony Visconti,  ‘Where Are We Now?’ was written by Bowie, and was recorded in New York. The single is accompanied by a haunting video directed by Tony Oursler which harks back to David’s time in Berlin. He is seen looking in on footage of the auto repair shop beneath the apartment he lived in along with stark images of the city at the time and a lyric constantly raising the question Where Are We Now?

“The moment you know, you know you know” resonates from the new single’s lyric. Now we all know…David Bowie has been in the recording studio…just when we least expected it!!

Txs for sharing my new uploaded video of Adam sing ‘is this love’. I hadn’t planned on uploading the video to you tube due to my swaying to the music in the beginning of the song causing the iPhone to move side to side in unison to Adam’s singing. But when I watched the video again I was struck by the grace and sincerity of Adam’s thank you to an audience member who couldn’t contain themselves fin shouting out that she voted for him on American idol. Listen to his response to her at the beginning if the video to see why I find him so indearing, he spoke to her as if she was the only ONE person I within the audience and the rest of us where there to observe their personal banter. And then he didn’t miss a beat when launching into the song… As the same person who just responded back to this specific audience person who yelled a comment above the intimate crowd, who remained in stunned silence.
This video to me just captured Adam at his ‘keeping it authenicic moment of truth.
Gotta love this wonderful human being!

Who wrote the Bowie article? I kinda disliked the brand of “kill the suspension of disbelief” written at the end of the Bowie article there. “Now we know… Bowie’s been in the studio!” kills the message by painting it over. Bowie saying “you know you know” is more important than lame comments about his physical whereabouts.
I know I must be missing some sense of humour here… it’s totally ok to write humorous remarks but not when it kills the message. This site is called “MEANING” of Adam Lambert, can we at least relate to the fact he has lived the story he told about in a musical? That’s crazy, right?
Bowie’s still here and decided to write something new, you know? Only the other day I saw Adam’s interview where he says he doesn’t know what Bowie’s up to as it seems he’s been hiding. And it resonates so differently now. Let’s just see what he has to say, and take it as is, not through the filter of his celeb persona or other filters. Again, it strikes me as entirely weird that everything our favourite artists are writing about seems to be converging towards “something”. But not so strange, after all.
By the way, Roger Taylor of Queen once wrote a song called “Where Are You Now?” You can listen to it here…
