Pop Crush: ALBUM OF THE YEAR – 2012 POPCRUSH MUSIC AWARDS “With another new year upon us, it’s time to take votes for the best album of 2012. From Taylor Swift‘s ‘Red’ to Frank Ocean‘s ‘channel ORANGE,’ 2012 was stacked with exceptional new pop albums, but which one has been your favorite? But can he trump the funky badness that is Bruno Mars‘ ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’? The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter’s second studio album has an old-school vibe that mixes rock, R&B, funk, soul, blues, reggae with pop sensibility…”

Popular Idol Adam Lambert Will Hold A Concert In Shanghai Next Spring
Interview by Li Jiajie
The recently frequent visitor Adam Lambert confessed that the potential of this huge Chinese market is not to be ignored by any international artist. “Next Spring my tour will come to Shanghai”
The way J-Pop and K-Pop artists combine hair, makeup, clothes and styling to give their music a visual impact is very eye opening to Adam. It’s a style he’d always preferred. They are very different from the American performance style. He felt happy and surprised he found his kind of people.
Compared to those former singing competition contestants, who were eager to shed the ‘competition contestant’ stigma; Adam has no problem with that. ‘I will not avoid my past. I used to be a failure, rejected after numerous audition for musicals and TV appearance. But my dream never fades. I’m still pursuing my dream. The difference is I gained a huge opportunity.’
Adam said he’s been to many tapings of competition shows all over the world. He found that other than language differences, the contestants stayed the same. In his view although there are debates on the merits of Singing competition on American TV, you can’t neglect the fact that they inject some youth and vitality to music business and the reality is many former contestants have shares in the mainstream market.
He commented that many former contestants, including himself, has difficulties to evolve from television celebrity to mainstream musician. “you’ll find the knowledge you learned before doesn’t not work now. You have to have your own ideas, your own sound, and you need to thinking about how to retain the audience who adored you.’ He acknowledge most contestant face the crisis of fading out after exploding into scene on TV. “You don’t have the weekly exposure anymore. If you don’t have new music coming out, you will be forgotten.”
Adam is a success story. (listing his achievement after AI)
Controversy makes one interesting
On losing AI ‘It would be boring, as an artist, to have everybody like you. I never want to be the first place winner. I want to be myself.”
“Music nowadays are becoming bland, but rock and roll is the easiest to show attitude and spirit. I hope my music gives youth some inspiration. That’s enough. I don’t want to be a popular idol.’
“I realize to get people’s recognition, you need to speak through your music. To interact with people who like you, the best way is to bring a new album. They will remember you and your work. So now I’m ready. Next Spring, I will bring my tour to China.”
