Last week our show was about Adam Lambert’s ability to cover songs of all genres, yet make them his own. We also talked about songs we would like to hear Adam perform. Due to technical difficulties – Xena had to improvise a show with no co-host and no music. Stopping short of singing, humming or whistling the songs, we filled an hour simply talking about potential covers.

This week, we’ll play some of those recommendations. With the exception of anything from “swamp rock”- Xena’s choice.  Join the fun in the chat room!

This theme was inspired by Adam’s spontaneous and surprising performance of Bob Marley’s “is this Love?”.

Again, we’re asking for your suggestions! Post them here in the comments and we’ll add them to the list!

I would like to hear Adam cover the song “Rain Fall Down” by The Rolling Stones. It has a funky-rock vibe about it and he would do a great job with this one. This song was made for him!

There are many, many songs I’d love to hear Adam cover, but the 3 I’m thinking of right now are Love Hurts by Boudleaux Bryant & covered by Nazareth in 1975, and Stranger in Paradise from the muscial Kismet. Both are beautiful songs & I’d love to hear his interpetations. The 3rd one is a song called Black Mascara by Frankie Moreno. This one may seem an odd choice at first, but look up the lyrics – they are pure Adam. It has a sexy middle eastern beat with great drums & guitar. I just know Adam could make it into an edgy dance number. I’ve often wished I knew of a way to hook him up with this song. Here is a video of Frankie singing it (not great audio but I hope u see what I mean).

After Tim Buckley died I never thought there’d be another voice like his (yeah his son Jeff was great – and he studied his unknown dad quite well) – but – Timmy was gone and there was just something quite rare about him. I’ve seen & heard Plant, Mercury & Morrison live (but again) Tim Buckley always remained my favorite (I’m not talking about folkie Tim; the later greater musician who cultivated the instrument that was his voice).

And years later along came Adam. Ever since Ring of Fire I’ve been wishing for him to cover Tim.

    Here are a few:

Sally Go Round the Roses (live)

From the Greetings From L.A. album:

Make It right (get down & nasty Timmy)

    Sweet Surrender
