Adam Lambert – Charity Cheerleader! Radio Show

September 20, 2011

 Wednesday, September 21, 2011

We’re heading for the coveted $1,000,000.00 total for contributions to Adam’s charities and causes of choice!  Adam has managed to inspire his fans to send cheques, open PayPal accounts, organize draws for prizes, fundraising events, birthday and other parties.

Wait – we haven’t held a telethon yet.  Well maybe that’s something else we can get behind a “Juneau & Xena Radiothon” for Adam’s charities.

We suspect that not all of the contributions from Adam’s fans have been counted.  We want to get to the headline “$1 million to Contributed, Thanks to Charity Cheerleader Adam Lambert”

What donations have you raised or contributed to charities upon a request Adam made?  We’ll be joined by a couple of guests who have been active in fundraising activities to talk about Adam as a philanthropic force.  Call-in! Let us know in the Chat Room!

Below, are excerpts from “Adam Lambert – Humanitarian”

The Do Something Awards were the most recent source of frustration for us. While we were pleased to see Adam appear as a presenter as well as a nominee, we were perplexed that the awards only mentioned Adam’s support for the Trevor Project. As usual, fans took things into their own hands to remedy the oversight. @RadarEcho tweeted out a list of Adam’s humanitarian accomplishments. We are grateful to her and pleased to share them here (with her permission, with some editorial embellishment by us):

Total amount raised = $934,344+

In addition, Adam has inspired fans everywhere to launch their own charity initiatives:

  • Fans in non-US countries contributed to charities because they didn’t want to miss out on the US-only DonorsChoose campaigns
  • In his honor, fans donated his music (in huge numbers!), funding and other items to 1n10, Sister Soldier Project, MusicCanCure and for earthquake relief in New Zealand and Japan
  • After Adam tweeted, many donated for Haiti earthquake relief. This tweet made Adam one of the top social media news influencers of 2010.

Don’t forget the Houston Area Battered Woman’s Shelter when one his fans was brutally murdered by her husband in front of their small children.

Found a blog by the Singapore Glamberts who picked a charity similar to Donor’s Choose for their GlamNation charity drive — they picked Business Times Budding Artists Fund and raised S$1,470 which is about $1,219 in US Dollars!!!! …. adding to total….

Talked to ladies who ran @aftermathlove (Bren and Lori) and they said that the gifting of Aftermath to international fans totaled about $100 with 89 songs gifted. Yea!

Also, talked to 1n10 and they estimated that as of March 2011, Adam’s fans gifted $6,000 (including FYE CDs, monetary donations, auction items, etc.). They will provide updated numbers to me soon for since March. Yea!

nice job getting this all in one place! (and to @RadarEcho too). When you add in all the smaller campaigns, it’s less than $16,000 away from the 1 mil. (If I punched my numbers in correctly, that is).
If there were 16 more campaigns that brought in $1,000 each, we’d be there. And that seems do-able. Maybe we can reach it by end of year??

Awesome Dori. Can you post your accounting? As soon as we can document that the total is $1 mil, we’ll put out a blog post! – J
