Introducing Adam’s Music to a New Audience

Listen to the podcast  Recorded Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Our “Top Ten Things toKnow About Adam Lambert” post proved not just popular but helpful.  We know there are huge throngs just waiting to hear a voice like Adam’s.  Let’s put them out of their misery!  They have no idea what they are missing!  The thrilling glory notes, the seductive tenor, the sexy dance songs and those pieces so bluesy, they’re indigo and you melt into the velvet, then fly the magic carpet of the exotic.  Whew, is it getting hotter in here or is it just my Adamagination hard at work?

What would you play to a new audience? Which songs would you choose?  Any specific order?

Please post here, your selection, and tell us as eloquently as possible what makes it stand out for you. You can choose to write about one song or up to ten.  It could be from one of Adam’s albums, a YouTube recording or a live performance.

We will play a selection of the songs with the highest number of nominations and we encourage call-ins to talk about the choices for “introductory” songs.

We would love to see fans from the entire Global Glamily participate.  Believe it or not, there are parts of world where Adam has yet to become a household name and it’s time to do something about this!

Among those who make submissions here or re-tweet this link, we will hold a draw and the winner will receive a special Glam Gift Pack of a copy of our book On the Meaning of Adam Lambert, tattoos, an Eye of Horus oval and a copy of author Christine Schwab’s book “Take Me Home From the Oscars“.

Christine is our radio show guest on May 18th.

    In no special order:

    1. Soaked, because even my family said that he’s really talented at that song
    2. Fever, because it makes you dance and a lot of young people like that! (e.g. me xD)
    3. Broken Open from Vh1 because it shows his vulnerability, even if some pple think its
    4. Down the Rabbit Hole from Vh1 because its… just ADAM! naughty, sexy and weird. Its
    fun to listen to.
    5. Aftermath Acousic. Even a friend who doesn’t want to like Adam at all (perhaps because
he’s jealous) said that this song is great. Also for people with problems. Its encouraging.
    6. For your Entertainment. This song is so fascinating!
    7. Sleepwalker from Glam Nation Live. Its dramatic and gives me chills every time I listen
    to it. Its overwhelming.
    8. Whole Lotta Love Studio Version. Its amaaaazinggg!
    9. Ring of Fire from Glam Nation Live. Perhaps not to concert boys, somehow they don’t
seem to like that version su much… I really don’t understand why xD
    10. Kiss from a rose from Upright Cabaret. I’m addicted to that song. Its so sad that it has
    such a bad quality…

Hello from Hong Kong! Long-time reader, first time commenter 😉 I’m gonna go with song choices that are less mainstream, but more dear to my heart:

    1. What’s Going On, from the Upright Cabaret (the tension!)
    2. Aftermath acoustic live (the emotion!)
    3. Feeling Good, studio version (vocal gymnastics!)
    4. I Just Love You (powerfully vulnerable)
    5. Beth, on Idol Finale (moved me to tears in just a few lines)
    6. Star Spangled Banner (I’m not American but found myself playing this on repeat)
    7. Whole Lotta Love, acoustic at Fantasy Springs (8 minutes of UNF)
    8. 20th Century Boy, the night he tongue dived (not many can reach that highest note seconds after kissing like that – this is also the version posted on Flecking Records, which converted a whole lotta britberts)
    9. Loaded Smile, on FYE (hardest song on the album, beautifully executed)
    10. Christmas Jingle – Ellen’s 12 Days of Giveaways (ever heard a festive song sang like that??)

    Cheers 😉

Okay, there are so many songs and different versions thereof, I losse track of all of them easily. So I am going to attempt to be very organized about this.

From American Idol – Tracks of My Tears, Mad World, Whole Lotta Love, If I Can’t Have You, Cryin’ and Feelin’ Good: For the person being introduced and indoctrinated to Adam’s music, this will show them that he can sing any genre of music and sound phenomenally good.

From the Album & GlamNation Tour – Soaked, Broken Open, Sleepwalker, Whataya Want From Me, If I Had You: From opera to ballads to pop and one of the most passionate songs he has ever sung in Sleepwalker, this is proof positive of how truly versatile Adam is and showcases his vocals to perfection.

Pre – Idol Music – I Just Love You, Come Home, Brigadoon, Come to Me Bend To Me, Glamorize, Crazy, Is Anybody Listening: People should be in bewilderment at this point as to why nobody discovered Adam at this point. Crazy, out – of – this – world vocals from an undiscovered explosive talent; nobody reaches notes like these and doesn’t get snatched up by talent agents.

Other Songs – Acoustic Whataya Want From Me, Acoustic Aftermath, Whole Lotta Love from Fantasy Springs, Starlight from teh Good Morning America show, Can’t Let you Go: hole Lotta Love should sway anyone normal to fall in love with Adam – nobody will ever sing this song like that again in this lifetime. And acoustic Aftermath is a sheer triumph for Adam both vocally and that he co-wrote the song.

Anyone not able to fall completely in love with aDam from all of this incredible music should seek immediate psychiatric help!!

    1) A Changes Gonna Come — To me, this song/his performance defined Adam as the contenders to go head to head with all the greats.

    2) Can’t Let You Go — I would present this song to mostly rock vocalists. It actually is his best song yet and his high notes here are to be envied by the best of the best vocalists. And no, that’s not falsetto, it’s his head voice.

    3) Time For Miracles — This is his first song to be recorded by a major label and I downloaded an awful quality song legally while traveling Asia and listened to it almost non stop. Call me
sentimental, and it’s my husband’s favorite song of Adam’s. There’s great emotion while he sings his face off.

    4) Feeling Good — This song showcases his huge vocal range, great resonance, breath control and awesome power!!!!. And he does make you feeling good listening to him sing so effortlessly.

    5) If I Can’t Have You — Amazing re-arrangement!!! Brilliant!

Last night (or very early this morning) I listened to the podcast of this show for the first time. Even after all this time, I found a new appreciation for that amazing vocal instrument…

A chance to hear “Come to Me, Bend to Me” again brought back this recollection: during the AI8 season, a friend in Washington State called me in the midwest and insisted I listen to an Adam offering she’d found online, and this was it. Transmission over 1,000 miles via two low-quality, tinny-sounding cell phones could not dim the magic and beauty of Adam’s voice. My mind and spirit experienced some kind of a feeling of perfect peace – a real paradisical sensation that – who knows – I may never get again!

Thank you, j&X, and thank you to Adam for all the beauty he shares!
