Juneau & Xena’s radio – Interview with Monte Pittman, Guitar Hero

February 14, 2011

Monte Pittman – 21st Century Man

Listen to the  show recorded Wednesday, February 16, 10:00 pm to 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time

What a show!  The live-stream lasted ninety minutes but we let the recorder roll & ended up with two hours of  podcast.  You must listen to the end – there are a couple of surprises.  Monte is a very busy, in-demand musician with a large following, including us!  It’s likely Monte forgot we were the crazy women who accosted him and Tommy for an interview at the Paddock Restaurant after the Hyannis GNT show, because he agreed to be our guest.  Please don’t tell him.

A conversation with Monte is an adventure for the interviewers — amusing, informative and insightful for the listeners and radio hosts alike!

Glitter Monte, by Claudia Cloods

Monte talked about his new album “Pain, Love & Destiny”, his source of inspiration, how he is developing this project and who else might be involved.

We asked about Monte’s Kickstarter campaign and how we can help bring “Pain, Love & Destiny” to fruition.  We will be announcing a special promotion to encourage donations very soon.

We played a couple of songs from Monte’s current album “The Deepest Dark” as he described the arc of the music on the album.  His vocals on the second song we played, “After the Last Wave”, are sweet and seductive and Monte explained the inspiration for the song.

We also talked about Madonna’s “Easy Ride” from her “American Life” album and  Monte described his work with Industrial Rock Band, Prong – we played “Spirit Guide” – as fresh as if it had been recorded yesterday. Mad passion & intensity.

Did we ask about Adam and GNT? Of course!

Upcoming appearances!

Monte is also a devoted philanthropist, supporting a charity that puts musical instruments into children’s hands “Little Kids Rock”. Monte spoke passionately about his commitment to music for young children and how we can support this very worthy cause.  We agreed to donate $1 for each chat room guest and $1 for each caller, so the radio show raised $74 for Little Kids Rock!  Thanks to everyone who participated.

A little nostalgia – we dusted this one off from the vaults.  “More bass! more bass!”

Hi Ladies, What a coup, an interview with Monte well done!

Just one thing about your site, just wondered why you don’t have a ‘tweet it’ button? So many times I have wanted to share your stuff on twitter at a touch of a button :). (maybe i’m missing something!)

Finally, Monte lends his voice! Should be great. Although he has his own things going on, we certainly expect the Adam questions. Future projects together? Is Monte a Grammy voter and his take on Grammy week for Adam. Monte has played with a lot of people. How do you decide to stick with the band route or be independent. How to you stay working when you are independent?

Hey, I put my best thinking into those questions about Madonna and Queen! It was a surprise to see them posted on the website, hopefully as examples of what NOT to ask. Monte will be such fun to interview that no additional craziness will be needed. Can’t wait to hear his music and dreams; would love for us to help make them come true.

Thea, indeed you reminded us of “what not to ask” with these questions!

What a hoot to see Monte playing with Spinal Tap. J&X should ask him if that was as much an honor as playing with Madonna.

please ask Monte if he’s ever going to release any of the recordings from his old band with Adam Lambert The Citizen Vein.

    thanks

There is something that I am very curious about. Now that Monte has so many different projects of his own, when Adam does go back out on tour, will Monte be joining him again? I certainly hope the answer is yes, because I can’t imagine Adam without Monte, and the other members of the band for that matter. Xena &/or Juneau, any ideas about this? Too bad it didn’t dawn on me to ask Monte last night, but didn’t want to ask anything Adam-related; I think I’m suffering from Alzheimer’s!!Last night’s show was lots of fun, informative & Monte is a great guest; thanks for getting him on your show!

The impression we had from speaking with Monte is that he would like to go on Adam’s next tour. That’s why he made a point about wanting to release his CD by early summer, having time to promote it over the summer (and, we hope, play on Adam’s next CD), and being free in the fall to help promote Adam’s new album. – Juneau
