Sorry, my entire message did not go through. I survived, barely, the 6 Flags concert and my recap is coming. I just listened to this live stream interview about radio play that is long, but interesting if you are into it.

    My Fiesta Texas Recap
Gearing Up: Remember during the GNT, we were out buying glammy clothes, boas, purple eye shadow? Fun, right? Shopping for an outdoor, 6 flags event in late July in San Antonio took me to Target and Academy Sporting Goods. At Target I got a very lightweight shirt that ended up showing my stitches from surgery (yea, nasty) so that got chunked and some white crop pants that were so sheer they showed everything including my cellulite, so those were dumped too. I bought a black floppy straw hat and fresh sunscreen. I shopped my closet for my favorite cool, but black, work out t-shirt, an old pair of cotton knee length shorts and my Birkenstocks black sandals. Comfort key and it all worked. Sporting goods store best purchase was a giant gold umbrella. I would have burned so badly without it. I also got a little battery operated fan that hold ice and water that you squirt out and an ice pack (nice but short lived).

The Venue: I arrived at opening and, in line saw an “older” visitor and she had a skull key necklace like the one I wore (with my infinity necklace and Adam dogtags). She was someone I was following on twitter, so immediate bonding. I told her and her daughter about the secret VIP place. By the time we got there, there was a line already! Apparently the faster fans went to get a regular armband and were told about the “upgrade”. For $20.00 you bought two bags of candy and were given a VIP (center first five rows) armband. This is a bit of a racket, but I was eager.

Still worried about my seating, I went to the line which was very short. Immediately met a couple of twitter friends and was set. I tried to meet some other people in line, but it gets a little hard to move around too much. I felt you needed to find your little group that would look out for you all day. TXsunshine had an excellent tan going, so was content to stay in line most of the time to work on her tan (I remember those days!). So RobinSA and I took breaks, mostly separately and I went to the entrance to give GlamPimpLinda the tickets we had won and didn’t need. I met other Texas and especially San Antonio people on twitter. This will be so great going forward. If I had met them sooner, I think I would have made the Winstar trip. It’s great to get your friends and family to meet Adam in concert, but it seems more fun and easier to go with Glamberts.

As 5:00 neared (entry time), the line kind of quadrupled as “friends” of people in line came in after having fun at the park. I gave a few who seemed to be totally cutting a little hard time. But we let people in, so it works out. All the kids started running, so I was moving fast and cut across the grass like they were doing. How did they get first row? Oh, there was a rope separating VIP, that had I acted like an adult and stayed on the sidewalk, I would have seen. So I had to go all the way up and around, so missed first row center. But I got the most excellent seat! Second row, center isle, right in front of mic. The lady in front of me was much shorter and the bleacher seating gave me zero obstruction. I was sitting next to bisty from Denver and we chatted while waiting.

    Buffys recap

The Concert: This venue is a covered amphitheater. The crowd was mostly young teens and twenty somethings. The older glamberts were there, but a definite minority. There were a lot of guys there, with their girls, some pretty boys and a decent showing of kids. What you would expect for a theme park. Only five minutes after 6:00 (the hottest part of the day), the band walks out on stage. Everyone starts cheering, but not standing. I was prepared to check them all out for awhile, but then Adam walks out with them. Like any Gambert, my eyes are immediately drawn to him and stay on him. So here we go again. How many ways can you say gorgeous? Just magnetic, dynamic, beautiful. His big smile so genuine. Like he had been looking forward to this day forever. His hair was perfect, complexion looked perfect from where I was and the smile radiant. He had on sunglasses, which he took off after the first song. Those eyes. They looked ultra blue and were rimmed in dark eyeliner, but not much other eye makeup. Black tank and that vest with the hood. It didn’t look like leather to me. It seemed sheer in the back and kind of rigid in the rear so that it kind of pulled away from his body. I totally want one. Those cut-off jeans were kind of wtf, but it was hot and they looked great. Tight. And I, like everyone does, noticed how thin his legs are. Arms were bared and not skinny at all. Tummy all good and we saw peeks of skin throughout the show. Now Xena the shoes. I get it. But they seemed totally fitting with the outfit and the weather. Casual and comfortable. A wrist cut or two and a skull key necklace. Did I mention his eyes?

The first song of course Trespassing. Not everyone stood. But those of us who know what to do stood and everyone I think got up for the show. The set list pretty much like he’s been doing. The first four or five songs were great as far as sound. Got the great Lambert perfection. After OOL, that ear piercing screech filled the air, and that big ole sound guy was running around adjusting cables. I don’t know if that happened because they turned the sound up. But what resulted was very loud sound for the rest of the show. Too much bass. Adam was making signals and at one point walked over and talked to a sound guy. But whatever happened, it was kind of bad for me sound wise. Maybe I was too close to speakers. Maybe it’s my seriously messed up hearing. But I just had to remind myself to be in the moment and look at Adam. I wanted to drink him up in every way. Just stare and pour over every inch with impunity. I had full close view which is what this was all about for me. He was smiling and making faces and being silly throughout the concert. He danced and swished and marched all over the stage. He looked at everyone. I had eye contact multiple times. If people did something to catch his attention he would point at them and smile. He gave lots of attention to a pretty boy with perfectly arched eyebrows and a rad camera! Smiling and flirting and pointing.

The front security guard was young and a cutie. Someone asked him to put a little red Elmo on stage. He looked at it and tossed it over his shoulder onto the stage. We were cheering, but Adam never seemed to notice it. He did however make fun of the guard behind his back and that totally confuse the guy. He was a good sport. Adam and the band left the stage before Cuckoo, so had to be called for an encore. Some people were leaving? At the end, he wrapped his arms around the mic. Different. Not too much bumping and grinding, but some. I mean, it may be PG, but it is Adam!

I have to confess, I did not even think about chasing him down for an autograph or another peek. I was so exhausted. We all looked like drowned rats and I was happy to be going home alive. That was a fan fail, but okay. Walked out with Robin and berted throughout the parking lot. Of course I was sorry I wasn’t going to Winstar. But listen to perfect vocals of Trespassing on the way home. So tired and hungry, but wen to Twitter and it was so much fun watching my hometown concerted being picked apart by hungry fans. No live stream so vids were popping up by someone I hung out with all day. Fun all over again.

So never say never, but I don’t know about these all day outside line things. Glad I experienced it, but the drama tends to take away from the reason for it all. My concert was a big success overall. Adam Lambert live is just the best.~buffy522

Buffy, you are a true glambert! So happy you enjoyed yourself in spite of all that you went though. The next concert hopefully will be a lot more comfortable. He is breathtaking isn’t he?

Oh Buffy! Your review was excellent, you did it, you prevailed, you survived … and you were rewarded with a closeup of “the Man, the Legend, the Face! There is no one like him in person, even in the middle of a hot Texas summer.
My favorite line in your review is-” It’s great to get your friends and family to meet Adam in concert, but it seems more fun and easier to go with Glamberts.” Speaking from experience, that is so true, although seeing DH almost choke up when we were watching the video of Adam singing Radio Gaga in Kiev is making me think I will drag him to the next concert …. nah, going with Glamberts is still the best!!!
      Now you rest up, sister!

Buffy, great recap! Just love the detail and I felt as though I was there with you. How did you find out about the VIP upgrade? (I always seem to miss announcements like this.) Sounds like you had a wonderful seat. I never put too much emphasis on sound when I go to these concerts because I wear ear plugs anyway, so it’s the visual that matters, and you got that. It’s tough lining up all day but that’s half the fun….meeting new people, catching up with those you interact with online. So glad you got to do that.

Buffy, thanks so much for the detailed and descriptive recap!! I felt as if I was there with you! It is amazing that you did this so shortly after surgery. The Glambert connection is amazing and after going to my first two Adam concerts with family, I started connecting on this blog and have only gone with Glamberts since then! Nothing like it. So glad you are back home with great memories of the concert!!

    • August 1, 2012 7:30 am

First, welcome home!! Glad you made it back safely. I was worried about you taking on so much after surgery!

Wow! Thank you for that detailed report on the concert. I love hearing about how Adam looked, how he interacted with the audience, along with what the audience was doing. You just can’t get all of that from videos. Best for me is hearing how you met up with other Glamberts – such an amazing fandom!

How frustrating about the sound problems. That seems to happen rather often and there’s really no excuse for it. I wonder if Adam travels with his own sound engineer or has to deal with whoever the venue provides…but enough about that. Hope you are resting up and getting stronger every day, because soon we will have to cope with the overwhelming excitement of a new single!

Thanks for the blow by blow recap, Buffy. Reminds me of much of my Six Flags Agawam adventure. I also am not sure I’d do it again. But it was fun once.!

Buffy, your review was great and I am so glad you survived. Wish I had been there.

Awwe…thanks everyone for kind words. I’m doing well now. My little incision spot remind me they are there, and one got infected, but considering, I’m back to running round living life.
I found out about the VIP tickets on the afternoon before the concert. I called 6 flags to find out if you got two wrist bands when you checked in. They said yes and mentioned for VIP only one. There is a VIP program for $250, you get a tour of the park, front of line rides, vip concert seats, and other perks. This is really a separate deal, but I asked it that is what she meant. Then she told me about this little store (souvenirs I think) that was giving away vip concert tickets if you buy two bags of candy. She said they rotated businesses but that for this concert it was this place. I started asking questions and she said to go straight there as you needed no other wrist band first. I feel guilty that I did not tweet this to my SA people. I was not sure that I could be first in line at the gate and was not sure this was gonna work anyway. When I arrived, I see the store was right across from the place that gives out wrist bands, so they were referring people over. No big secret anymore. Even though the rumors were that they sold out, I was with someone who got the last one two hours after opening.
I think Adam has at least 2 regular sound people because I recognized them from videos! I think they have to deal with the local stage speakers which are outdoors and probably funky. Not the best for The Voice. It was really the best to meet other glamberts. Lots of stories. But meeting local people will be great going forward. We were all pretty supportive and had so much in common despite what are probably huge differences.

Thanks for all the detail in your report, Buffy–even the not so good stuff like the sound. Grrr…. I felt as though I were there. Hmmm… I like the shoes, Xena. Fun. Of course, they couldn’t compare with the red pants (Winstar?). I loved it that Adam looked like he knew how great he looked in them and how much they were being enjoyed. He’ll definitely wear them again!

.A Queen + ?Adam world tour coming up? Spike talks about the Kronos Korg in this video just prior to the Queen + Adam concerts and then in the last 20 seconds of the video mentions getting it ready for a world tour….

    • August 6, 2012 9:49 pm

      Wow! Damn straight fingers crossed!
While I’m bummed that Adam doesn’t have a British Passport so he can sing at the closing ceremonies (although very happy to claim him as the best example of an American man ;) I am confident that the very smart members of Queen want to keep the good feelings and chemistry going and are planning on more concerts.
Could American Idol be getting in the way here? Are those people talking to his people and their people and trying to split Adam 3 ways? With the Sony people in the middle saying “Hello, Trespassing tour?”
No wonder Adam and Sauli got away from it all. Oh, I would love to know where they are and what they are doing …. Well, I KNOW what they are doing … Which makes me smile *sigh*

      • August 7, 2012 3:21 pm

I’ve been watch way too much Olympics and notice how many born and raised USA kids are playing for other countries. so why can’t Queen borrow someone from another country to sing? I know, not happening. Jesse J will be such a let down.

        • August 7, 2012 7:36 pm

          Buffy,
Jessie J. is a really, really good singer, though. At least they picked someone good.

        • August 7, 2012 8:34 pm

But nothing compares to Adam singing with them!!!!

  8. August 6, 2012 9:45 pm

This is just wonderful! What a talented man Spike is. I had no idea all that was involved in playing all the different sounds for the songs. It sounded to me like it was more than just an idea about the world tour. How wonderful would that be!!!

Adam and Sauli have returned from Cabo. Adam’s hair is blond and VERY short:

Can’t wait to see it without the hat! I wondered when he was going to make a change!

    • August 7, 2012 10:20 am

Knew that would happen at some point!
Scenario in my mind … Adam and Sauli lying side by side out by the pool, so happy to be relaxing, finally. The sun is shining and Adam’s ginger arm hair is glistening in the sun. Sauli, the quintessential Scandinavian blond, runs his hand over Adam’s arm and says “Adam, my love, your father is so handsome, get in touch with your Nordic roots, be my blond lover”
Or, maybe Adam just got sick of putting that black shit on his head and thought this might be a way to go anonymous for their vacation ;-)

      • August 7, 2012 3:24 pm

Oh, El Kat, your naughtiness is showing so nicely. We probably don’t give Sauli enough credit for influences over Adam, which obviously he has! This is a fun summer look for them. and those shoes are perfect with a vacation on the beach (why am I defensive of the sandals? I guess cause i got to see em live)!
