Thanks for that Purple Haze link. Simply amazing!

      Kiwi,
The acoustic Purple Haze is wonderful. I just closed my eyes and let his sexy voice wash over me.

Very very cool, especially in stereo! Stereo pictures are a hobby of Brian’s. He collects antique stereopticon viewers and was in Philly a few years ago lecturing on them. If you want to look at them in 3-D instructions for viewing are here, about the middle of the page. It’s a little tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it it becomes easier.

      http://www.londonstereo.com/stereophotography.html

We found, however, that several of Brian’s pictures seem to have their 3-D reversed, that near object seem far etc. DH switched the left and right pictures and they really popped. I wonder why we found that to be true. Maybe because we’re left handed and our brains are reversed?

Isn’t it a shame that we have to fight to get Adam’s music played on the radio. Being a Billboard No. 1 album doesn’t seem to help.

I don’t understand it, either, Rosemary. Something is not quite right with this picture. We shouldn’t have to work so hard to hear his music on radio. What gives?

Thanks for that post rosemary as I had not read it. I just commented on it. I find the whole thing offensive. I am not going into a closet regarding my age, my favorites, my comparisons, my family, my interactions with DJs. It was just BS. I see where they are coming from but don’t like it. WE, the FANS, most of whom are out of that sacred age bracket, got that album to No. 1 (as it deserved). But there is a point of diminishing returns.
There was another article (maybe in billboard) about how the Biebs
“Boyfriend” wasn’t doing that well on radio. His label pushed and pushed, got it played endlessly, so now it’s in. We don’t have that same power.
But this Adam Request is just going to turn me off. True, I don’t often listen to commercial radio anyway. But I am willing to request when prompted on twitter etc. But I’m not going to pretend I’m a teenager!

NS I have to wonder if Adam notices this, and how much he can do about it.I almost feel it is a conspiracy for some reason. If they don’t start to release the other wonderful songs on the album, I worry that Trespassing will not be recognized as the great album it is. I still hear Adele’s songs every day from her album. Enough already!

    • June 20, 2012 7:24 am

I keep thinking that this album will go down as the great little album that wasn’t (radio-wise). Reading the link you provided yesterday has me wondering at times if we, his older fans, might be hampering his success, but I don’t like to go there. If anything, we’re the ones snapping up the albums, driving it to top of the charts.

Is it just a few corporations that own the majority of commercial radio stations? What decisions are they making behind boardroom walls about who gets played or not.

In my own town, NCOE went up on the mediabase form two weeks ago. I never heard it on the radio, and now the song has been taken off the mediabase form. WTF. So frustrating.

Where are the people who are supposed to be looking out for Adam? Doesn’t each performer have an agent that is supposed to give his client the best possible exposure? Has anyone ever mentioned this to Adam I wonder?

My thoughts, exactly. They all didn’t put so much effort into this album, get all these great collaborators, to see it sit there collecting dust. Of course it’s not, but what does it take to get a song played on radio these days. We shouldn’t have to work so hard requesting, begging stations to play Adam.

      • June 20, 2012 10:23 am

        NS,
It is true that just a few corporations own the pop radio stations. And they play the same artists over and over.
It is frustrating, but try not to stress over it. Besides buying the music, requesting the music, personal Adamizing, and attending his concerts, there is not much else we can do. Well, and we’re doing something by just commenting on this dear blog. Juneau and Xena , Gloria, and other fans are doing a wonderful job promoting Adam.
And if his fans are older, so be it. It might hurt his cool factor, but we can’t really change who we are, and don’t want to. All we can do is love and
support him. And that’s what we do.
        How is your summer going?

great to hear from you, Isabel. I guess you’re right. Just support Adam as much as we can, and the rest will follow. A lot of this is out of our control.

My summer is going good so far. I haven’t been here much lately because I’m busy planning my trip to London. I leave next Friday. I’ll be attending 2 of the Queen + Adam concerts, having seats the first night, then GA the second. I’m looking forward to spending 2 weeks in London and surrounds. I just read that Paris is only a 2 our train ride from London……hmmmm….I can handle that.

Let’s push for recognition of Trespassing.
Trespassing is nominated for Best Album of 2012 on Billboard now for its mid year awards.

ADAM winning Billboard’s Music SEXIEST MALE had a worldwide coverage online and in print. Let’s do it for Trespassing.

I wish that some of the glamberts, that perhaps are in touch some way with Adam’s people, would express our concerns about the under exposure of “Trespassing”. I just feel that this has to be made known for Adam’s sake. They should take the example of Justin Bieber’s people. He is all over the place!

    • June 20, 2012 4:51 pm

I just finished my weekly CHUM FM survey for their top tunes playlist. No Adam, but I am so sick of the same songs over and over, week after week, month after month. There is so much great music out there! Not just Adam’s but lots of others as well. Top 40 Radio is a moribund, behind the times medium. Do you listen to it except to hear Adam? Why when you can pop in the CD or listen to any of the downloads we all have. Well, that’s what our kids do. Alex listens to all kinds of music and it’s not on Top 40 radio, in fact she rarely listens to radio at all.

Adam has to keep doing what he’s doing – performing every chance he gets to various crowds in different locations. Adam’s GNT was a highly successful international tour at a time when so many were cancelling. Most of the biggest live acts to day aren’t actually musicians but DJ’s – completely electronic with fancy light shows. They’re not being played on radio.

Since radio is not a revenue generator in itself, just a marketing medium,as are CDs, today’s artists have to either create new revenue generators or pump-up ticket sales. Adam has a brilliant work ethic which will always stand him well as well as all those other attributes we know so well.

My suggestion to Top 40 radio is to place limits on the length of time any song can be played to two weeks, after that, it’s replaced either by another song by that artist or something new all together. Adam’s album alone has 15 tracks on it!

Now, I’m going to listen to all of Trespassing while I prepare for tonight’s radio show! Forget turning on the radio unless you want to hear the same helium-filled voices of current female singers for a steady hour.

I think this might make a good post – I’ll do that!

I’m registered to rate music on a local top 40 station, and I’ve been seeing a lot of the SAME music on their surveys for months and months. YES I’m tired of hearing it. But NCOE is on their request form, I’m just waiting for it to appear on the survey.

How can Xena and niamhcat, both I believe over 30, be trusted to rate top 40 music? You’re way out of the demographic!

      • June 20, 2012 7:52 pm

Good point, X, actually. You know, I only listen to radio in the car, otherwise it’s my CDs at home or iTunes radio (where I pick the music I want to listen to…got ABC Lounge from French Riviera happening right now….). Why are we so radio centric? I guess we figure if Adam gets played on radio, the exposure is there. But Adam will find other ways to reach out to his fans and new ones.

I love this little interview! Nice overview of fans. Young, old, family, male, female, straight, gay. This is his fan base. People need to stop trying to change that! Just help add more!

Buffy – they never asked our age! If they want me to be a listener, then my opinion should count too!

They never asked my age either, just let me sign up. Since it’s a station I actually listen to, I do know their music and do what I can to knock out the things I really hate.

I am really encouraged Xena and niamhcat, that they didn’t ask your age. That question is found in so many applications.
And good for you both. I would be interested in hearing what you do, what they ask, how you rate things. You know, details!

They wanted my e-mail and where I lived, I think. The play clips from various songs and ask if I’m familiar with the song, how I rate it and if I’m tired of listening to it. There are usually about thirty songs on a survey, and they e-mail me with them about once a month.

Thanks niamhcat. That sounds like fun. Really keeps you up to date on what’s going on out there in pop music. I like that at least some stations are doing a little research.
