Watching the performance, at the NewNowNext Awards, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the epic performance of Ricky Martin at the Grammy’s doing “The Cup of Life”. That single performance catapulted Ricky into world domination. Mass frenzy. I had been a Ricky fan for years before that performance, the world caught up. This Trespassing performance needs to be on a world stage, such as he likes of the Grammy’s. This song, and the timing in Adam’s career is primed for world domination in the same way. I just hope the fact that Adam is living his life the way he wants too, in all his glory, isn’t just another damn hurdle. The single fist in the air, during the chorus speaks volumes. Seriously, this performance is EPIC!

I need help friends. I was very despondent Saturday when BTIKM did not make the top 20 vids. There are lame videos on there and songs that I would never listen to from people I’ve never heard of. I think it is hard because during Chapter 1, every video put on there (I think the wonderful FYE vid was scorned) hit No. 1 immediately and stayed there or 2nd for the run. Even the acoustic WWFM (which I’m sure had no “spins” or sales to bump it up). It’s just that the larger fandoms get more votes in general and us smaller ones need the enthusiasm of unlimited voting to get our guy to the top. I have free time or on the phone and I could vote. Why is it not working this time. That is a great video!

Buffy, I feel your frustration. Did you ever consider that they may use the votes just as a barometer and ultimately chose what they want to be number one. I don’t trust any of these “Polls” and feel they are just ploys to get hits which they use for ratings.
BTIKM is a GREAT video, but the song has not done very well on the radio ( i think they should have gone with a dance song) Trespassing will totally rule the airwaves.
These Queen gigs will catapult him to the top, our worries will soon be over !

The little story that goes with it talks about them as polarizing and going in and out of “cool”. However, their longevity and influence are legendary.

I think their popularity has grown since Freddie’s death, but grant that they are not everyones cup of tea, you know, the “gay” thing. Which may keep some people away from Adam.

thanks elkat and bonbon. But like IIHY wasn’t a big radio hit and was #1. I know that most of these radio polls are just games, and even that MTV thing was kinda forgotten. But people were into it! This VH1 just doesn’t seem right this time. Feels that they play by rules that I’ve never gotten.
Here’s the best part. As I was feeling frustrated, our Lover Boy is tweeting about living future. And then has the gall to talk about music, bar-b-ques, bloody marys and, er, fun? Hey, I’m doing something wrong here. Adam, you are supposed to be lamenting about your vid and telling your fans to vote, vote, vote! Having fun?!!! Oh, Lambies! Love you.
And he was hot hot hot on the NNN awards. Adam is so alive on stage.
There’s a wonderful saying in politics about polls. The only one that counts is on election day. In this business, the only numbers that count are unit sales of music, $ sales, ticket sales and I’ll toss-in Grammy awards. All this other stuff is just to give fans bragging rights. There are legitimate surveys that determine song play on a radio station, but really how much does that count?
I think we’re all kinda voted-out!

I finally got back into the Lounge. Yay!! Sorry my first comment was cynical. I’ve got to be more positive about the world embracing Adam. He soooooo deserves it. If the Olympic thing happens with him tho, it won’t make any difference if people are Queen fans or not. I would hope he would do some songs of his own. Can you imagine if they backed him up with Trespassing?

When we were in Vegas we went to see the Cirque de Soleil Viva Elvis. The venue was 1/2 full and we heard that it was closing down. On thinking about it it made perfect sense, Vegas was full of 20-something’s who have no connection to Elvis, and the boomers who do are staying home in their rockers …. Well, except us
I wouldn’t cross the street for Kiss, let alone pay $8 bucks a gallon to get there. But Queen plus Adam in a smaller venue? That’s crosses demographics and will do very well.
Now I just want to hear that you have a ticket, you have to represent for us !
thanks Xena.. true enough. some of the polls on twitter are in languages I can’t begin to understand! But as we well know, Adam is known for his fans, and it is frustrating when we can’t “get through” to do our thing. VH1 has been pretty good to Adam and we have never understood their way of finding the rankings on that video poll. I can’t make people vote and I know some solid fans who just say “I don’t vote”.
So onward to the fun stuff of this new Chapter with this added surprise of Queen colabs. Remember when all the questions were about “are you going to be Queen’s frontman”? No, no, no was the answer! Love this!

Yes, I would love to know the reason for NCOE being the second single. You know they have a strategy but it doesn’t make sense to me!
I guess I’m not surprised. I suspect the label exerted huge pressure to have what they consider a sure-fire Top 40 hit. I think it has that potential, but the song doesn’t really carry an “Adam stamp” – a signature sound that differentiates him from, say, Bruno Mars. I’ll support NCOE because I want Adam to have huge commercial success and reach a position in the industry where he can really start to call the shots.
I hope he goes for something much edgier on the video. I’ve seen some fans on Twitter fretting about NCOE because they can’t see a video that depicts Adam in a gay love affair. Why would the video need to be autobiographical? I’d love to see a very hot, sexy video showing all kinds of romantic combos. Hmm, wonder if RCA would back that… – J
Are everyone’s fans so fretful over every piece of news and information about their idol? Speculating on what the video will depict and then getting upset over it is ridiculous! Single sales aside, Adam is a hot commodity on the tour ciruit. His solo shows sold-out all over the world, albeit at medium sized venues but that is where the money is made. Maybe Kris Allen’s single will out-sell Adam’s but can he mount a 100+ appearances international tour? Can Kris pull more than one single off his album? Can he sell as many albums? Takes more than a good single and radio spins to achieve success and Adam’s got it! Don’t cry for Adam Argentina!

oh, Xena, please don’t bring KA into this. It is unfortunate that albums are coming out at same time. I get it in terms of fan wars and am soooo, tired of it. You are right about Adam touring. I know it will be a great show and I am personally way happier with medium venues for me and a mixture of the bigger “festival” for making new fans. Adam is the only artist I would go to a stadium to see (I think). But I think the European venues will be larger this time!
Buffy, I’m not into fan wars, just noticed that KA’s single has been very positively reviewed and it has his bland sweetness about it. But we need to look beyond the “horserace” of singles on charts. It’s but one single measure. Radio play doesn’t make hits, it simply reflects listeners’ opinions combined with executive business decisions. Radio hasn’t “broken” a new artist or song in forever! They’re pretty good at playing one-hit-wonders to death. Rebecca Black anyone?
Adam’s personal appearances whether live or on TV go a long way toward selling him – Adam, not just a song.

We’re talking apples & oranges here, Kris has a totally different audience. I only posted that song because I haven’t heard him since idol and was surprised that I liked the song. Will not purchase it because a few listens was enough. ( I actually downloaded Bonnie Ratt’s new album and have been really enjoying it, she is a total pro )

Yea, watching the twitter go crazy (while I should be doing my taxes! Honestly, I’m on team Juneau on this one. Was hoping for Trespassing. Adam has been so excited about writing “most” of the songs on this album and the first releases are by other people. For sure hitmakers. But somehow BTIKM which I think is a great song, just hasn’t been a “hit”. I can see that one being released as a follow up to WWFM, but NCOE seems a continuation of the same. So Bruno has had a few hits for sure. But he passed on this song for his own album. And it just seems like a sell out to radio with zero guarantee.
Damn, we worry about this stuff. Can you imagine Adam and his people? I think I’m just ready for the album. We haven’t even heard this song in “loaded” form except for snippets!

As far as I can tell, the version digital version of NCOE that we have is not the final one. I believe Adam mentioned that, so it’s likely going to be a bit different, perhaps imperceptibly so. They will have fiddled with it until it’s perfect.

I would love for it to be like the acoustic version but we all know that won’t happen. It’s time for a dance tune to hit the airwaves, so I suspect NCOE will have a good beat.
The NCOE snippet that we have heard was an unfinished rough cut. I really wanted a song that he was written for his second single, but anything written by Bruno is always very radio friendly. Adam is releasing the most appropriate song to ensure radio play.
