Special Guest: Michael Orland

MICHAEL ORLAND is back! We ran out of time when Michael joined us June 6th and he promised to return – Tonight!!

Michael is currently the Pianist, Arranger and Associate Musical Director for the hit FOX-TV series AMERICAN IDOL. We “discovered” Michael behind the scenes when Adam thanked him after his striking and memorable performance of “If I Can’t Have You” on the Top 7 episode. Michael worked with Adam on every song he performed on Idol.
A world-class performance and singing coach, Michael has worked on every season of American Idol, as well as multiple seasons of America’s Got Talent, and hundreds of Broadway Shows.
This is our opportunity to catch up with Michael as the next season of Idol begins to take shape – they have conducted the preliminary auditions around the country. We’ll catch-up on the latest Idol news……..
But there’s a lot more to this multi-talented musician than working with Idol contestants. He’s collaborated with many legends and soon-to-be legends in the entertainment industry. Michael also has a new venture to tell us about! “Find Your Unique Voice”

Can’t wait for the show tonight I love Michael Orland.
Will try to be in the chatroom tonight
I’m excited about this show with Michael! “Part One” was a great program – he had behind-the-scenes stories from Idol I’d never heard, and unique insight into Adam from having worked with him over the course of the show.
My question for him: What do you think is the most important quality for an AI judge to bring to the show now?
Great question! Thanks
X
I’ll be tuning in tonight! Just finally listened to the first show with Michael that had missed – looking forward to another great interview. He’s so open and enthusiastic about coming on and talking – so nice of him.
Some questions/comments –
Thoughts on new judges for Idol? Adam has been mentioned, and I just read more rumors today (on twitter of course) about Adam having signed with Idol as a judge already! There’s been some debate among fans about whether Adam should or shouldn’t (of course we WANT to see him twice a week on TV – that’s a given – talking singing, whatever…). Adam was a great mentor – how would he be as judge? Are the two roles that different? It’s relatively early in his career too – would that be a good thing or bad thing? All speculation right now. (Maybe rumor status will change by 10PM tonight!)
Last interview he started to talk about vocal training, vocal coaching – differences? – one is more technique, one performance? I remember hearing how even Whitney Houston had a vocal coach and that surprised me, but I guess we all fall into bad habits.
I’m curious about the Find Your Voice venture.
I had more but can’t think of them now! If I do I’ll post.
See you tonight.
What’s the latest buzz on Adam being a judge on Idol??
Great picture! Thanks, Michael.
yes, great picture! Thanks!
Great picture, Michael! Thanks so much for share it with all of us crazy uber-fans :0) !!!
Thanks to you, Michael (as well as to Xena & Juneau) for the great show last night! You’re surely one of the “good guys”, and it’s gratifying to know that someone like you is encouraging up-and-coming talent at a crucial stage of development! Also: fun “vintage” photos!
Carry on ~
Oh, so sorry – I just couldn’t pull myself away from real life to listen last night. Listening now – love Michael!!
