Radio show guest – Allegra Huston

April 19, 2010

Author Allegra Huston

This week we are thrilled to welcome writer Allegra Huston as our guest on our BlogTalkRadio show. Allegra’s playful essay, “What is it about Adam Lambert?”, is the spark that launched our personal journey into realms of Adam fandom, friendship, our book, and set loose an outpouring of ideas and words that has not stopped to this day. Allegra is a brilliant writer whose memoir, Love Child, cracks open the experience of growing up and finding her place in her famous family. While the glamorous trappings that came with a life lived in the enormous shadow of her father, the legendary film director John Huston, are unique, the heart of Allegra’s story is an experience that is universal – that of a powerless child swept up in the events of adults’ lives, who struggles to comprehend what has happened to her and then to find and lay claim to her own place in the world. I think many, perhaps most, of us struggle with this in our own lives. Allegra’s memoir portrays this experience with exquisite sensitivity, vividness and, above all, courage.

Allegra co-leads a writer’s workshop called Imaginative Storm, which relates directly to the process we ourselves have been going through with our Adam Lambert experience – finding your inspiration and allowing it to be expressed in the most unfiltered, honest way possible. She is also working on a short film, Good Luck Mr. Gorski, and will be telling us all about that.

Please buy her book, now available in paperback. Creative writers and artists need and deserve your support!! We look forward to a great conversation with Allegra – and yes, we will indulge in a certain amount of Adamizing!!

Log in to our show on Wednesday, 10:00-11:00PM (East Coast Time)

    Ladies,

I just bought “Love Child” a few minutes ago. I wish I had bought it last week so I could have it read in time, but oh well. I will still enjoy the radio show tomorrow, and will give thanks to our patroness. Without her, the Glambertinae may never have been possible.
